Adding organic matter to your garden if very important. It provides, just that, organic matter that feeds the worms and helps the soil structure. It also retains water and helps keep soil loose. I have clay soil and I add peat moss or compost (when I have it) it, to my planting beds during both spring and fall. Composted materials will also and nutrients for your vegetables.
