Got this plant as a gift and I’ve never cared for anything like it? How much water does he need? Bigger pot? More sun?

Croton… he’s gonna need more sun. How do I know? These plants are sun gluttons. They can never get enough sunlight.

Codiaeum variegatum! He looooooves light, and a decent drink. The more light he gets the more spectacular the colours get. They also flower with strings of white-ish puffballs for the male flowers, and shorter sticky stems for the females. That last type makes a bit of a sticky mess at times, so you can always opt to cut them before they mature.

Croton….they love a good amount of sun and get quite thirsty often. You’ll notice the leaves will get droopy if the air is too dry or it has not been watered recently.

I have mine sitting inches from a south facing window and it is thriving. I water it whenever I see drooping begin, which is about every five days for me.
