  1. Please know a lot of us flower farmers had problems with thrips this year. You are not alone. Please try to over winter the dahlias again.

  2. Laura, your garden is beautiful as always. I wanted to say that I share your amazements for beneficial insects. I discovered beneficial nematodes last year when my garden had a grub infestation. Like you, I myself feel sometimes skeptical about this, but a year ago I applied them and this year my lawn has fared much better. I already ordered this year's nematodes and should be applying in the next couple of weeks and I have to admit I am a bit excited about this. I wholeheartedly believe that this is a game changer, please keep us updated on how your pests keep up with the beneficial insects you droned over. ๐Ÿ™ƒ๐Ÿ™‚

  3. Those spruce are amazing. I cannot grow those in my 9b garden. You talked about trimming dead off evergreens. I have a potted lemon cypress that got stressed with a drip problem. Can I trim off dead tips?

  4. I've also struggled the most with thrips on my snapdragons too, even when I have success treating them on other flowers. Thank you for sharing your journey with the predatory insects!

  5. I thought maybe the rootball broke the way yโ€™all were struggling with that tree. The south garden is starting to fill in, and looks amazing. The roses are really looking good.๐Ÿ˜Š

  6. The grasshoppers decimated my rose bushes. They were really bad this year. ๐Ÿ˜• But the kitties love to chase them.๐Ÿ˜

  7. Sometimes I have to take a deep breath when you start cutting so much off ๐Ÿ˜€ all the flowers but I know it's got to be done they all look beautifulโค

  8. Thank you for sharing the progress on the bugs. It really helps when you share those issues as we get to learn that we are 1. not alone 2. make mistakes or garden makes mistakes we have to figure out lol.
    Thank you again.

  9. Question. Do the thrips (sp) still survive in the cut debris, since it piles up over in the new field. Just wondering if you might be growing pests?

So worried about both of Laura and Paul's backs as they wrestled with those HUGE trees. Spent my entire morning thinking about how lucky they both were this time. Preaching to the choir … sorry.

  10. Who else thought laura was going in the whole with the root ball …..its looks beautiful omg what is that color dahlia

  11. Thank you Laura! It is such pleasure to watch your videos. Iโ€™m just wondering if you can recommend good nursery to buy roses( and clematis) in the USA. Iโ€™m very impressed with Polish nursery which has the most experience, professional rose producer Mr Grzegorz Hyzy who is not only passionate about his work with roses but also has great experience to produce the most unique, gorgeous, strong, healthy roses. He is also working with other nurseries in Europe. His YouTube channel rรณลผeogrodowe is very professional and practical. Unfortunately, I canโ€™t order any his โ€œ beautiesโ€ to USA, itโ€™s some regulations.. thatโ€™s why I asked you to recommend me a nursery to buy great quality roses ( clematis too). Iโ€™m living in Illinois and Iโ€™m Polish who falls in love with your great garden and passion for plants. Thank you for sharing your ideas with us. You always make my day after tough shifts in the hospital and Iโ€™m very grateful and appreciate. My garden is not only my hobby but the time to relax and chill out. Thank you Laura for your passion and support to make the world a better place!!โค๏ธ

  12. Admire how you are deadheading and pruning roses with no gloves. A woman after my own heart!

  13. Hi I love your videos and I live in Houston Texas can you please tell me what ever greens are good to plant

  14. Everything looks so beautiful! Possibly a silly question about the predatory mites: any idea how they would do in a more urban area? I'm in Chicago with a small yard and thrips have been an issue on my roses. Just wondering if the mites would "stay put" or if they would leave any faster given the smaller space.

  15. I enjoy your videos very much your hard work seems to payoff your gardens are so beautiful, and your family is beautiful , God bless.

  16. Totally agree with you Laura with the metal cages on trees. Great job removing it, how can anyone expect leaving it there be good for the tree. Wire is not biodegradable so it confuses me that they feel itโ€™s ok to leave there.

  17. Thank you for this timely video. Pests and diseases in my gardens are my Achille's heal. I took an online class about them from UW-Madison this spring. I can now recognize what the problem is caused by but I have a long way to go in learning about the various pests and how to control them. Many of my plants have some type of cutter eating away at them. My rose leaves are skeletonized. I'm thinking Japanese beetles but perhaps something else that I can't see. So, please keep teaching us about this issue.

  18. When there is so much wrong in the world, some time with Laura in her garden restores peace to my soul. LOVE ALL of the progress you are making in the south garden, Laura! You are one of a kind! โคโคโค

  19. It is 6p and I am watching.. โค
QUESTION: Laura I purchased two David Austin climbers.. I guess I do not understand.. I thought I could put them on a trellis?? I read that flowers would only be on the ends, Do I need to spread them sideways for the laterals stems to bloom? like you did on the chicken coop ? HELP ..A climber is different??
