Anyone know what this plant/ weed is? Grows like wildfire and spreads really fast.

  1. Nasturtium! I love it and plant new varieties every year, but my mom (in a warmer climate than Scotland!) considers it pretty much a weed. Leaves and flowers are edible, and a bit spicy in flavour. Very easy to control its spread, but it does self-seed like mad

Nasturtium. Pretty and can be eaten. Well the flowers can. But it does get everywhere. Very easy to pull out but it will pop up all over the place.

    Indian Cress

You should get pretty orange or red flowers and it’s a nice addition to salads. It’s also a favourite food for many garden pests so it’s very good for keeping hungry critters off your veg.

As everyone has said it’s nasturtium. Cabbage white butterflies, who love cabbage so much it’s in the name, like nasturtiums too so they are a good caterpillar distraction plant.

I planted them because I read that Cabbage Whites like them and so would avoid my other plants alone.

    Nope!

I love them! Cheap seed, lots is varieties, easy to germinate and most importantly slugs hate them !

Nasturtium! The leaves 🍃 & flowers 🌺 are edible! You can use them as a garnish or in salads – they’re quite spicy 🌶️!

They are your best friends. I interplant them between vegetables, save seeds and grow every year. Leaves are rich in vitamin C, flower tea is good for feminine hormonal system and in hair rinses, a few fresh seeds add a kick to salads, stronger than radishes. Very pretty and healthy plant to have.

Great plant, good flower border ground cover. easy to get rid of. (just pull it up and gone in a couple of years, but make sure you do it before it sets seed, but if you like it so easy to collect seeds, chuck them where you want them and they’ll come up next year. Or dry them and store. Pickle the seeds, taste like capers. Whats not to like!

I it’s a nasturtium, flowers, and popular, but gets straggly quick and attracts caterpillars I think. Not a weed but needs looking after to get the best out of it

Nasturtium as others have said. It not only attracts cabbage whites, black fly seem to go for it too. For me it’s a great distraction plant and protects crops like French beans, which can sometimes get mullered by aphids.

I, too, love Nasturtium. I’m not sure if you know it’s edible, flowers, leaves & stalks.

I planted nasturtium once, an entire bag of seeds, and my flower bed was completely overrun lol. I made pesto from the leaves, quite nice.

  14. If anyone here likes Korean BBQ, you can apparently use these leaves instead of lettuce to make your wraps! I’m definitely going to try it myself.
