It’s the Garden in July and today I’m starting off by harvesting the overwintered onions and beginning the process of drying them for the winter. We also have a look at the vegetable garden, honeybees, and the beautifully blooming wildflower trial area. The garden is now home to a new no-dig pumpkin patch and I share how we created it, too. There’s plenty of Maggie this time around, the little scamp, and also crops I’m planting and harvesting this month.

  1. Sweet potatoes are meant to grow along the ground, and put down roots to grow sweet potatoes along the whole vine. But they can be trained.

  2. I really enjoy a short but informative video as sometimes I'm short on time and need to get back in my garden 😊

  3. Love the channel.
How’s the Ollas been functioning for the greenhouse? Has that been your only water source ? Or any additional top watering? Thanks and you guys take care and be safe

  4. I have a bunch of Maggie once…and they help destroy my garden so well.but…they are cute and i love them

  5. Hi Tanya, I've been reading that you need to cure onions in a shaded area with lots of air flow. I see you are using your greenhouse. Wondering if the film you have on your greenhouse shades the plants? Maybe I don't need to put them in the garage? Thank you, Joan from Sequim, WA

  6. I just love Maggie she is so cute. I can't wait to see you make the blue dye video it sounds very interesting and a shorter video on a certain task sounds interestin as wellxx

  7. I love your garden videos. And one thing is very important. Never ever cross your own line. If you want to make those videos, you should. If you don't want to, then not. It's up to you. It shouldn't comsume you in a wrong way. But that is for you to decide. I love watching Maggie stroll down your garden though. She's so cute.

  8. Thank you for this lovely video, your garden looks so beautiful!!!!can't believe it's such a new garden ..and yet, plants look so established!!!your passion for gardening is contagious!!I'm curious to know what fertilizers /amendment (apart from compost )do you use in your soil??

  9. Hi Tanya, thanks for your beautifully put together films. Your garden is outstanding and it's a pleasure to see it mature from a blank cavas. Short video's would be great if you can manage. It would be nice to see how you use the prodce too sometimes, like a short recipe. Whatever you can manage though is very much enjoyed. Xxxx❤

  10. Hi there. Be wary of drying your Onions in a green house or cold frame. I know of two people who's onions last year actually got cooked and turned to mush when doing so. I would suggest out side on a raised wire frame or similar to let air circulate and then shield from or take inside when rain expected.

  11. You do what you can! We can all survive with watching and learning from you when you have to time to share with us. I would rather watch a great full of content video then a bunch of videos I learn little from. Short videos sound awesome too. Live your best life! Thanks!

  12. Loved the garden tour, quite inspirational how much you have achieved. I think it’s an excellent idea to produce short videos. I have noticed several of the YouTubers I follow are doing this as this time of the year is so busy. I think your followers would also appreciate it as well as we too are busy harvesting and don’t always have the luxury of sitting down to a half-hour video much as we would like!

  13. You may be disappointed with those Cara potatoes Tanya the tubers grow quite large but apparently they lack flavour and are useless for boiling as they fall apart and have a watery consistency. All is looking great in your garden as always. Emmas Allotment does a 10 minute video 3 times per week so yes a short 10 minute video once per week would be OK if that's to your liking.

  14. I had no clue that you could plant onion sets in the fall / winter and then have a harvest in the summer. Has anyone tried this in zone 5 in the United States?

  15. I personally like shorter, single task videos with maybe a garden walk around every so often. Long videos are hard to fit in the schedule. 😊

  16. As far as video frequency, you do what's best for you. Your followers will always want more! But the creator needs to find balance that is right for their life.😃💚

  17. 😅 Maggie is such a terror! Hehehehe… Always up to something whenever she's in the video. Love love love your garden btw. So prolific and well organized.

  18. Shorter videos are fine with me, love seeing you weekly. Understand things can get hectic, we are happy if you can make things easier for you. Other YouTubers do more vlog style videos, could possibly also help by taking us along doing your chores. ❤

  19. I would totally enjoy videos that are even 5 or 3 minutes. sometimes I dont have time to watch long ones either so a quick tip would be fun to pop in for!

  20. The garden is lovely, as always but I was most impressed by the Japanese indigo. Do you have any tips for germinating it from seed, Tanya? I had mine on a heat mat for weeks and had no luck.😅

  21. yes, we are spoiled by your awesome videos and like greedy little children, we'll take ALL that we can…🙃…it's important for you to have the time to enjoy the fruits of your labor…thank you for great videos…❤

  22. Looking forward to the indigo die video. Your garden is amazing and productive. You both have done so much in a short time. Nice patio furniture, enjoy the fruits of your labor 🌱

  23. Tanya youR garden is gorgeous and interesting. Thanks so much for sharing it all. I’m going to watch again because there’s so much to see. Yes I miss you weekly!

  24. Love your video's! As for the frequency of them: Do them as you have time for it and as it makes YOU happy.
Enjoying your work and live is the top priority!
Thanks for sharing your time with us. 🥰

  25. Love your videos Tanya, but don't stress yourself out! If I may suggest for future videos, growing flowers and fruit and vegetables in different containers, e.g. In the vegepod, window boxes, and all types of raised beds. And something for us disabled gardeners who can only garden at waist height. Thank you so much Tanya and Josh too! Not forgetting Maggie, she's gorgeous.

  26. Love the idea of shorter videos intermixed with the longer ones. You might find that you reach a different audience with those too and get more subscribers as a result.

Loving the garden too by the way. Inspiring!
