I am really bad with plants, but wanted to try again. I was looking at some succulents today and saw this fellow in with a bunch of lush and flowering plants. He looked so sad and out of place. How do I give him a good life?

lithops can be a bit finicky, but they’re very easy to take care of after you get the basics. that light involve a few casualties tho haha
first things first, get it a deeper pot. lithops have deep tap roots. I like using ceramic cups as pots for these. but plastic pots are great too, just make sure they’re about the size of a cup, and that it has holes in the bottom
you need very well draining soil. you can get that by mixing succulent soil with perlite 50:50.
they need a lot of bright light, but you have to be careful because they burn fairly easily, especially during summer. avoid the hottest sun, but it’ll enjoy direct morning sunlight.
water only when the plant is wrinkly and deflated, almost never when it’s splitting. there’s exceptions, but as a rule of thumb, if it’s splitting it doesn’t need water
