Hey guys,
Today I am planting out the vegetable seedlings that I’ve grown on my own. These are going into my first full allotment plot so needed enough to fill all of the vegetable beds.
This allotment gardening uk vlog was filmed toward the start of June 2023 so it’s a little late – Sorry!
The rain kind of put a stop to me filming the rest of my planting out but fingers crossed next time I film at the allotment it won’t be interrupted yet again…

They are shallots a lot of people use them to pickle
Yes shallots
Clare at Growing Plotty has what looks like shade screen on the inside of her greenhouse. You may want to check with her and see, maybe that would work for you.
Quality content as always. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Golden Gourmet are shallots and looking really good
Wow seedlings look great Soph 👍. Shallots are going really well most of mine bolted. Glad you got it all netted before the birds found them. Have a great week Soph happy gardening, Ali 🌞🇨🇦
They look like shallots
You can still eat your Pak choi.
You look like you found a good spot to bring on the seedlings . I had to raise up my seedlings onto a table off of gumtree to keep the slugs off. Then I needed to cover with chicken wire to keep the squirrels away. Over the winter I’ve got to build a cold frame away from the sun on my plot so that I can just drop off trays of plants and to implement a version of Steve’s staggered sowing poly bed. He had the right idea sow often in a line to get staggered cropping. If you can get wood chip coffee grounds and cardboard and place on top the worms will Rotavate the ground into perfect soil over winter. Not all plants love fresh wood chip strawberries do. But when wood chip disappears most plants do. Fungus and bacteria rot the wood chip , nematodes eat the fungus and bacteria , worms eat the nematodes and poo perfect humus.
Shallots and onions looking great Sophie .Pak Choi is a cold weather crop and does better planted in Autumn or very early spring .Its useless in summer for the reasons you've discovered ,gets massacered by flea beatles ,same with radish .Great job on sorting the netting 🌺
Is that the bee's playing saxaphone?
Your seedlings are looking really healthy.
Those other one's look like shallots.
Hi the carrot looks like a small feverfew.
Watch out for those twisted foliage on you onions the dreaded Alium leaf mine is about,
When planting seedling water in holes before sticking them in when soil is that dry.
Flea beetle prevention is mesh netting or sticky pads. Pain in the neck but it's now the flea beetle window, so to speak.
Can’t you get some free manure? Local stables might deliver it for free too? This will retain moisture and help with soil nutrition.
You have a lovely calming way about you and I could have watched you for an hour, thank you.
i’m planting red cabbage as the flea beetles have demolished my chinese cabbage. Your cabbage and onions look great. Nice to see you. stay well
