A year ago or thereabouts I planted up a part of the garden designed by Roy Diblik. We worked through the design process of this 15-by-30 foot space (or so) together in a series of videos and recently Roy came to analyze how it’s looking and suggest a few changes to make.
This video is mostly just following Roy and I for a very natural conversation, so feel free to be a fly on the wall for this one.

Loved this. I garden in zone 4 Colorado, but still learned so much to apply to my gardens.
I love the chat with you both talking about things to add and things you love in this garden. What a beautiful and lush area, for a young garden! 🙂
I’d love to see you add some kind of seating where yall were standing. Do you have two bridges? I’d play off the bridges where the water gushes through… start with a ground cover that looks like water going from bridge to bridge and beyond. Add drifts of plants along that. Evergreen perennials are always my favorites. If you had a handrail on the bridges you could do vines too. Loving how lush it’s all getting!
What a wealth of knowledge Mr. Diblik has! Thanks for having him on.
We will need to make Roy's visits an annual event! I don't think he will ever run out of knowledge and tips.
❤️the video!! Please tell Roy he needs to ship stuff! I am in NW Tennessee. No one here has any of these plants… never even heard of them. I can’t even find the seeds to grow most of it. I have been digging up native grasses from our farm & putting them in my under construction prarie🤣 wish I knew what they are.
Thanks for your videos! So inspiring!!
Isn’t Roy the best?! Just love you two talking plants!
I learned many things, but hearing about different echinaceas was the most helpful for me. Thank you both!
I love listening to you and Roy! The story of plants, Roy talking about plants like they’re people. Lovely.
So enjoyed this conversation between you and Roy…
Such love of plants, and wisdom of gardening. Best gardening to both of you!
Don't think I realized the limonium it's so pretty! Definitely gonna try adding some to my garden
Just the best. Happy for the both of you.
I could use a Roy in my garden. It is such a treat to be able to share our gardening offerings also.
❤❤❤
I could listen to Roy for hours.
Wow! I wish I knew a Roy Diblik nearby – so knowledgable and calm. Your garden is lovely and I liked the suggestions he gave to enhance certain areas. This was a most enjoyable video.
You two are magical….
Such an inspiring video. I can see how fun it would be to have conversations with Roy! He is very wise and knowledgeable,, yet so real. I was just kicking myself for moving so many plants, then felt affirmed by Roy,, when he said, "we move plants because we love to garden." Great info on so many plants!
Great duo of gardeners!
Pearls of wisdom ❤️
Fun video.
Really Love the stationary shot showing the whole garden with you and Roy with the gardening talk. Beautiful shots of the layers and colors that draw the eye back into the distance. Loved it. Felt like I was along for the ride in a master class that I got to sit in on.
Thank you for sharing the collaboration and follow up conversation. I will be interested in seeing the 2nd year as it flushes out a bit.
“It’s alive.”…Well, that’s the end of our show thanks for tuning in…
Best lesson ever to have aggressive plants added after the nearby plants have a foothold. Wish I knew that before I put an anemone in. But lesson learned. I love that you can just keep learning more and more every year. Fun to listen to you sharing thoughts!
What an absolute joy to sit back and just be a butterfly in your garden with your guest, quietly eavesdropping on your plant selections. 🦋 🦋 💚
Great video!! I so enjoyed it. Well done. I found it very relaxing with lots of great information. Thank you, Roy!!
What an absolute treasure Roy is <3
Where can I find a list of plants that he recommended? I am in Zone 6a Michigan. Thanks.
Erin and Roy thanks for sharing! Love it and it so fun to get an update on this garden and the design.
The Sedge Matrix
What's going on with knock out roses get this rose rosette disease and killing them, its highly contagious ice lost 8 roses in a year because of it and now I have 9 more roses that I will be cutting them down and digging up the rootball and placing them in black trash bags, I heard you shouldn't burn them up. Can easily spread the disease to other roses. I am Sick I've planted over 50 roses in 11 years I've lived here. They were gorgeous, now they look sickly. Some are still alright so far! I live in North Carolina, South if Raleigh and the spil is quite humus in these beds,, so great soil! Praying 🙏
Wow he is soooooo intresting!! Does his nursery ship??
always love a visit with roy! his conversation about echinacea was super informative and enlightening. so great to learn from him
A wise & gentle soul Roy is – Thank you both for a lovely chat!
Your garden looks great. I love Roy's perspective on pairing plants and how they 'interact' with one another .
A+
I love seeing how this looks after one year. I’m looking so forward to watching his it evolves over the next 2-3 more years. I love the images of the mature Goldtau and the limonium. I so want to grow those plants and many of the plants in this new garden. My plant addiction is going wild. I remind myself to buy more seeds. 🌿🌸🌻🪻
I can’t believe you still have daffodils.
Just love this! So inspirational. Thank you!
I didn't get the name of the "scotch" plant that you had but in the garden. You you tell me what it is, please?
Would you talk sometime about hybrids, please? I'm under the impression they are just showier or heartier and not necessarily good for pollinators, for example, than heirloom varieties so I tend to avoid hybrids, although I suppose it depends on the plant. What are the pros and cons of hybrids, and are there types of hybrids that are better than others?
Wow! I could listen all day!
Love how Roy and you share incredible gardening information. Such an enjoyable listening to the flow of conversation. I felt like I was standing there. A beautiful video!
How lovely to have Roy! We need more Roys in the world.💖
Your Wisconsin accent really came across in this episode. Love it! 😄
I love the analogy to music.
Great idea to add more aggressive plants in later stages after more "mannered" plants get established.
Putting it politely, I'm afraid this new garden is not quite so much to my personal taste compared to the other areas. But perhaps as it develops I will be persuaded otherwise.
