Where do you get the blue barrels from? It would be really helpful to give us some idea where best to source different types of equipment like that…I know my local B&Q and garden centres don't carry those types of barrels for example.
I use cardboard boxes instead of making boxes
Good🙂👍
Please explain what your tomato every 2-week nutrient supplement might be if homemade diluted liquid dock/nettle/etc drench might be too much and make them dependent. What would the 2-week supp be, please? Thanks.
Great tips, thanks Huw!
Since not watering a new transplant goes against conventional wisdom watched the other video and you watered them in. So not watering in the first week would seem to be overstated..some even say it helps with transplant shock.
Rooting the suckers is the best, more plants, more quick
I like simple as well when gardening 🌱😌 Have a Fantastic Friday
I just cut the bottom out of an old 20cm plastic pot & plant into that upside down. Very easy.
Should one add crushed eggshells for added calcium (when planted in potting soil)?
… I love the idea of creating more root space with the additional box … but with my tomato plants already in the ground that are getting fairly tall, but look like they could use the extra roots, I’m thinking that I could put a tall collar at the base (round or square) and fill with the compost or high quality potting soil for the additional moisture and nutrients … I’m also thinking that it would be a good idea to use a type of material that would help retain the moisture in a light colored or white to reflect the heat from the intense Texas sun … THANKS HUW !
Living in Tennessee with hard red clay and really hot days this month, I’m having to water every day! I planted my tomatoes deep and amended the soil with top soil and Black Cow manure. Then I mulched with crushed leaves, as always. But they aren’t flourishing like they have in the past. What am I doing wrong?
thx, by curiosity ,have you tested the buried tomato planting against surface one or are you just repeating common things said on the net and historical "knowledge" ?
I live on the coast – can you mulch with sea weed? Many thanks.
