I've never had luck growing sugar snap peas. However, this year I planted them in early March and I have blooms! I'm excited about them. Normally they are burned up from heat before the bloom.
Ivan I bought Mangetout Oregon Sugar Pod peas from Lidl approx 70 plants to grow as a indoor experiment in my little OFF GRID caravan studio…I rigged up small mini greenhouse in the shower compartment behind the glass bifold doors also bought 4 NGT angling Profiler Multilghts with power banks…..super bright 525 lumens each one with 7 light settings to use as grow lights….they have magnets attached and positioned above each shelf shining downwards onto plants….WOW 8 Days later fantastic healthy sweet juicy microgreens …The reason I want to inform you about my set up is because of the added sulphur dioxide particulates high up in the stratosphere due to recent volcanic activity and last years Hunga Tonga eruption which is causing cooler weather over UK and northern Europe at the moment so I am not taking any chances with small seedlings etc …..my kids call me Scientific Mum lol 😊 Ivan thank you for being a great teacher on your wonderful channel and your presentation is first class ……sorry comment is this long Best Wishes from Mary in Scotland 🙂❤
Put my first lot out about a month ago, they were slow to get going but seem OK, haven't lost any but decided to plant a second batch from another load of seedlings kept in the greenhouse. Was suprised that you don't have anything to help them grow when at seedling height, or do you run strings after you've planted them?
Thanks Ivan, great update those peas look really healthy. As you said it's May and it's all systems go. Thanks for sharing.
👍👍
Thanks Ivan, for this great update. Take care and all the best. Stevie
I planted out my petit pois in my veg patch 2 days ago and this morning found that a slug had steamrollered the whole row during the night 😢. There are some short stems left so I’m hoping they will sprout more shoots but I’ll have to be on slug patrol from now on 😖 Fortunately they haven’t found my Meteor peas that are in a container and I’ve got some mange tout to plant out in about a week’s time. I’ll be starting another sowing tomorrow to fill any gaps.
🌈💚🍀
Ive planted some peas under the bird feeders in my front garden, hoping the pigeons stop eyeing up the peas in my back garden, although my cats are a deterrent in the back 😊
Some great information Ivan just doing my sugar snap peas myself many thanks 🤝
Buen dia
i love sugar snap peas, i find them easier than shelling peas as you dont need to shell them. i do love peas however1
Thanks Ivan, great tips as usual. This is the first yr iv ever been able to grow peas thanks to your video's 🙂 My early ones that were transplanted are growing so well now outside ,so iv got more on the go for succession planting. As i'm disabled l can only garden for a max l hr a day so l have to be super organized. Each day is planned out for certain jobs ie Tuesday is seedling transplanting day , Wed is weeding/making nettle & dandelion fertilizer from the weeds, Thursday is tidy up day ready for Friday as its free day where we just admire the garden/read garden books & just sit by the pond with a glass of wine now the weather is getting nice, Saturday my children & grandchildren come for tea , so its harvest/cooking day where l look for seasonal recipes off yr cooking video's, Sunday is seed sowing day & Monday is moving plants or mulching plants day. It works really well for us with our small veg garden & l dont get over whelmed or distracted when l have set days for garden jobs. Just off to start my gardening hr and the sun is shinning. Happy gardening everyone 🙂
