It seems half of the ring has good contact.. it feels secure. Was this graft successful?

    Is the scion firm? If so, it’s likely taken. That said, it doesn’t look very stable- I’d be tempted to stake it especially once the scion pups

  2. Yes it was a successful graft if it’s firm.

    In fact, growth of tissue around the graft union can tilt a graft that started off flat.

    It will do what vascular plants do, which is gradually expand the vascular connection where it is narrow. The increased flow of hormones and sugars squeezing through that point will stimulate the increase. That will strengthen it a lot and it will be just as strong as that diagonal joint where the rootstock branched.
