This is an alternative way to plant a tomato plant. Tomatoes are vines that are meant to sprawl and they root-out where the vine contacts soil. It is possible to use one plant to plant and entire garden bed. Plants grown this way grow very quickly. *Uploaded again for HD version correction.

I wonder what the worlds largest tomato plant is. If you grew one 20 feet high and then layered it you could get a big one.
Great info!!!
Looks MUCH better!😊
So Gary this method does not look like it's appropriate for buckets or small garden table raised beds. Thanks for the info.

nice!… I will be checking its progress and will try this in my garden.. Little worried about bugs or fungus issues but hey.. I got lots of canned maters from last year, and the year b4, and b4 that.. and b4 that lol.. I use Hydrogen Peroxide as well! Works awesome!..
wonderful video!
Clever!
Thank you for the re-upload! Wonderful information!
This is awesome 👏🏻 I had my tomatoes too close together under my grow lights so some were leggy. I took a taller wider pot and spiraled the ones that were pliable and now they can grow stronger 🙌🏻 it did take more potting soil but I’ve learned my lesson 😂
Interesting idea, since tomato vines do root easily. I am anxious to see how it works out.
Awesome! SO simple and fun! Can't wait to see what type they turn out to be! I may try this with a few plants this year!🍅 I love your ideas!💡 Thanks, Gary! 🌱🏆💖
I did this accidentally through laziness and a lack of time. It was a yellow pear cherry tomatoe that sprouted on its own under my apple tree , where I threw some bad tomatoes the year before.
I've moved this year to my rural property where I built a small cabin and now have ten+ acres to experiment with.
looks like a great way to grow a tomato plant Gary I well definitely have to try that methed some time
Very clever Gary! Automatic succession planting 💚
Once they roo, do you cut them apart?
This method works, my Mom would do this with tomatoes that she had let stay too long in their pots. This is my second year of gardening and using the hydrogen peroxide on my tomatoes last year was an absolute gamechanger! I was so thankful that I found your videos on using it. I love using it on my cucumbers and cantaloupes as well. It killed all of the fungal diseases I had. Humidity is a big issue for me and I am trying to decide how close I want to plant my tomatoes this year. I have a small garden space, I have extended into my backyard with black landscape fabric and built a 23 ft. platform with free (HT) pallets for my grow bags. Right now I use the end for a "thinking" bench, lol. Ah… so many ideas…so little space, lol. Thanks for the video, I believe I can do this to extend my garden area to the wooden fence row and/or shed where I have a small strip of available space.
Yes that’s how it would grow naturally. Cucumbers and pumpkins too.
Thanks. Will use this method this year
Interesting! Thank you so much for the information.
Gary, this is such a great idea! I'm going to definitely try this with a few of my taller tomato plants. My tomato plants are itching to go into the garden! When do you suppose we'll be able to transplant them in MD? I'm waiting on you. 🙂
Really looking forward to watching you grow the plant this way!
Have never seen anyone do this but can't see why it wouldn't work, looks like you've got a good climate and long season so wondering just how long your vine will get!
Thanks for this great idea. Hopefully I can try it too. We only have lawn space left with decent sunlight and live for rent so we have limitations… But if I plant it like that, is it enough that only one of the "side-growths" get full sun to sustain the entire plant and the rest can grow in shade? Because shade we have plenty of!
