Don’t forget your transplant have small root systems that sit in the top 1-3 inches of soil. That soil can dry out in a single day. Transplants need to be watered regularly until their roots develop, I talk about ways to manage soil temperature and other thoughts and rambles as I walk my gardens.

Hooray for Earth Day!
in central Minnesota, we had a few days of 70s and low 80s and then it started snowing again. no real spring and then a short summer!😁
My spinach that I planted this spring started bolting as soon as it got true leaves. I'll only plant it in the fall from now on.
We’re probably going to get another frost early next week (likely Tuesday morning). At the very least it will be in the 30s. 😢 see you tomorrow! Also do you take card or only cash for the plant sale?
Using shade cloth this year…so far, so good!
Virginia zone 7. This weather is crazy! 90 degrees here today and this is our average frost date. I don't see any chance of frost now. Tomorrow 73 and rain. The following 7-day highs in the 60s. Then 6+ days after that in the 70s. I'll be direct sowing some on Sunday and Monday. I have some more onion transplants to put in. I think I'll wait till May for the tomatoes, peppers and those veggies needing warmer soil temps consistently.
Hello, it the end of April in my area. I have a question, my tomato plants, Cucumber plants and zucchini plants are getting too big to keep them in my garage, I been growing them, since the beginning of March, indoors and been putting them outside when weather is above 60 degrees. My question is, can plant them in my garden now and how do I protect them
What Strains of Radish do you say are delicious that we seen inthis video???
You can eat the horseradish leaves but they're pretty bitter. I seem to recall you saying you liked something bitter. Lol.
Thanks Gary, had a little piece of shade cloth that doesn't cover much, so I ordered a good quality one from your Amazon store also one of those white insect protectors after listening to your video. Can't wait to put my peppers and tomato plants out😊New Jersey zone 7😊
Hey Gary, This is my 4th year of growing asparagus. The stalks are still pretty thin. How much do u fertilize them? They are in a 4 ft deep raised bed. Also, I had to cut down two huge fig trees last week due to ambrosia beetles. I'm wondering if the timing of my pruning in February was too close to the arrival of the beetles.
Awesome! Thanks for sharing Gary. I can feel your happiness with your garden. I feel the same way when I'm in my garden. ☺️
I lucked out last year when those white butterflies congregated to the Kodiak Brown Mustard flowers –a component in my cover crop nearby for erosion control/soil restoration!
Hey, a long-time follower of the chance any chance your hardy kiwi has produced flowers or fruit yet? I know it's supposed to take 5 years, just got mine in the ground recently.
How old is your asparagus garden? Mine is only 1 year this spring. Thinking about how different I might need to tend mine…Thanks!
