Spring has sprung in NC, and we are excited to do our first garden tour with many spring colors! 1. Don't give up on your macros!! I'm in zone 8a, southeast VA and so many years I've thought mine were toast and they came back and bloomed. I love your shade garden, it inspires me 😊

  2. Love your videos! They are so informative and always make me smile. What’s the red leafed tree at the 20:40 mark? It looks like a Japanese maple but I thought they don’t like full sun and high temps?

  3. My fairytrail bride survived the cold and is beautiful. It is in a very protected place.

  4. I am still waiting (zone8a) for some sign of life in my Bobo hydrangea. Fingers crossed.

  5. Your bleeding hearts look beautiful! Ours just started to show signs of growth this week here in zone 7 Virginia 😄-Cara

  6. I believe that japanese is Bloodgood i do have one and iam in 9b zone can be in full sun but some shade in this area

  7. Everything is so beautiful! I always love to see plants blooming! Our weather is starting to get better wanted to start planting tomorrow but another rain storm coming through oh well another day!

  8. Oh, I wish we had Spring in Highlands, NC. No snow, but we are at a different zone than you and it is so gray out. The tulips and daffodils are out and a leaf or two, but that is it. We are told not to plant until Mother's Day. I have learned the hard way that is correct. It is coming soon! The arctic blast killed our Ivy and another ground cover. In fact, I think I have other dead plants, so I will have a lot of work to do this year. That's a garden….you never know what you will have each year.

  9. I bet scentlandia would do great in the bed you just cleaned out with the camellias & azaleas 😊 🌸

  10. Hi Jenny. Your garden looks glorious. Here in zone 7b NY things are just started to sprout. Only the daffodils & hyacinth are in full blooms.

  11. My pugster butterfly bushes look dead. I keep looking but there is no new growth coming ??? Same with my encore azaleas, they look dead with the exception of one or two blooms? Camellia took a hit also!

  12. This was so helpful! I'm a few hours away from you in TN, same zone 7. That arctic blast was a beast. I had new landscaping along my porch. Three of my gardenias look OK, 3 don't. I'd love to see how you prune those bushes that need to be shaped from the blast. I'm scared to ruin my bushes that are barely hanging on.

  13. Beautiful garden. I have a question about your euphorbia. I have heard that euphorbia is very aggressive will take over a bed, but I also know this also depends on a bunch of factors such as climate, soil, if it enjoys that location, etc. I live in the Virginia Piedmont, 7a, and have similar condition to yours. Do you find in your area that euphorbia is a bully in the garden? That’s for another amazing video and garden tour.

  14. Thank you for reassuring all of us that even a Master Gardener such as you must deal with Mother Natures deep freezes with a “Oh well” attitude.

  15. Jenny, how long ago did you plant your bare root roses and how deep did you plant them? i planted one in a container and it’s not doing so hot. I followed DA instructions but I’m wondering if it’s too deep as that seems to be a point of contention for rose growers.

  16. My euonymus completely defoliated after that deep freeze in December. I think it’s alive. It’s got buds and is flexible. I’m also planning on giving it a good trim and fertilizing.

  17. Thanks for taking us on the garden tour. How beautiful!! I’m glad you keep it real & show it all I including the plants not going so well.

  18. I don't know how to spell the 3 plants you are talking about removing at 14.47 (phonetically: scent landium) – anyway, will you be putting them over near your pond area that you're developing?

  19. Thanks for such a lovely garden tour. Spring has been very slow to arrive here in the UK and I have several plants that look like they perhaps haven’t survived the winter but hopefully in a few more weeks they’ll start to push new growth.
