yea but check the expiration dates. I bought some in the spring and they were already expired
Most states have extension centers and have lots of free information and training
Thank you for the reminders AG. My dollar stores have Easter and St. Patrick's day items but no seeds. Fortunately I have begun lettuce from store bought, sweet potato slips from store bought and even a pineapple plant along with seeds from last year. Happy growing!
I started my garden here in Arizona. I'm growing tomatoes, onions, and cauliflower so far.
I do not know all this for sure….but if not using organic heirloom seeds….in a green house….your food will fail. Just what I was told. sorry.
I bought 4 of each, food & flowers, even though I don’t like some of them. But I figure maybe I can share/barter.
I had great luck with Dollar Tree seeds last year. I grew bush beans, carrots, zucchini and pumpkins. I also got a bunch on clearance the end of the season for 5 cents each or 20/$1
Let's all "believe in tomorrow" together! I'll be growing a garden again this year. Hopefully it will do better than 2022! Thanks for this video, AG! It's encouraging! Love little Teddy! TFS! Stay safe & healthy!
Thank you for this reminder AG.👍
Getting going with seeds in plugs on my Windowsills in the coming week, as it's still a bit to Cold to put anything outside yet, here in Hampshire UK.
Will plant double of the things that did well for us last Year.
TFS AG, take care & keep really busy everyone. 🌱❤️🙂🐶
The plastic bags of dried beans, dried back-eyed peas and raw popcorn kernels in the food sections your supermarket are seeds too. Last summer I planted dried black-eyed peas left over from when I made Hoppin' John for 2022 New Years Day. I soaked the peas overnight and then planted them in my container gardens. Most of the peas spouted and grew robust vines with pea flowers. I had to use some of my garden stakes and twine to create a kind of net for the vines. All of late summer and autumn I harvested mature pea pods as they became dry and then saved my little crop of new, dry peas to plant in late spring of this year. The main reason I planted the peas was to improve the soil in my container gardens. Bean and pea plants add nitrogen to the soil where they grow and can save you the cost of expensive chemical fertilizers.
If you have a large, sunny garden patch and a long enough growing season, you can grow a patch of popcorn plants and then plant beans or peas when the corn plants emerge. The popcorn plants will be a kind of trellis for the bean or pea vines and the bean or pea plants will add nitrogen to the soil to help feed the corn plants. Let the corn cobs and bean or pea pods mature, and you will be able to save the popcorn kernels and dried beans or peas for eating in the winter or for planting the next spring. Popcorn kernels can be ground in a grain mill as an alternative to store bought corn meal.
I do the seed vaults every year too. ❤
Thanks for the tip. Love the saying! I have a Dollar Tree nearby. I'll watch for seeds. I'm at high elevation in CO, and it's still cold here, so I might have to start seeds indoors.
Yes! We are in Florida, and we will plant soon. My husband just was released from the hospital Friday for the 2nd month in a row, as he has been diagnosed with lung cancer, that the doctor says is very treatable.🙏 We are in our 70s, so, taking care of him❤️ is time consuming and tiring, but I need to find time to learn how to can food because of the expensive food prices and the companies running our of cans.
Our daughter brought over seeds, pots and something that looks like a piece of wood, but it somehow turns into dirt., and she says it works.
We are going to start growing tomatoes first and then cucumbers. We grew yellow squash before that grew easily. I might try eggplant and onions. I don’t know when the potato season is, but I should try growing them.
God bless🙏
Went to DT today. No garden seeds but there is another location that finally got them. The Dollar Tree closest to us seems to be struggling with stocking food. They’re putting plastic bowls, craft items and baking pans in with the food to fill in big gaps.
👍😊
If I find seed packets at the Dollar Tree I don't mind buying for the plants that I may not eat or harvest, just to learn how to grow things and not spend the extra money like the other stores or online. Also to see if I can seed save and see what comes up the next year.
The journal idea is great, I inadvertently did so by making a folder of my garden maps and plans, so I kept my old papers and it gives me an idea of how I did in the past.
The Dollar Tree you showed had way more seeds than any I've visited, bit I have gained a good stash for starters. They even had packets for microgreens or sprouts in spicy and mild. Glad you were able to get stocked up! Many Blessings from Deborah in West Virginia!
Starting my garden today. Got into the 90s in February?!? Going to give it a try.
I’ve been trying to buy mostly heirloom and DT does sell them! Can’t wait til they come in!
I was able to get 78 packs of seeds at dollar tree. It didn't look like anyone was buying any of them here in Mississippi. The racks were full!
