The fact that Jay doesn't read the case file notes gets me a little mad, if he read them he would see that this isn't a kindergarten, but a research lab. They're trying to make humanoid creatures to teach children things, the reason is unknown but it explains why they're so high-tech and why there's so many notes laying around

So I just realized this…the note you read later in the game, that letter from the kid is for the person you play as. So the character you play as in the game is probably a mother and is looking for the kids.
