  1. Love the layering of different colors of green! Any suggestions for best shrubs to add for green color in drought-prone areas?

  2. What about soil testing? Wondering why some of my shrubs are healthy green leaves in one section of yard, and yellow in another (same plants – 100 feet apart).

  3. I love all the green. I prefer practical, frugal landscapes and when we think of winter interest, there's no better way to stretch a dollar than to plant evergreens that look great year round. Such a great layout and structure!

  4. The little limes are my favorite too. It definitely makes the whole thing pop. I may have to re-think my layout im working on because of those now. I still plan to schedule a consultation at some point when I can. Keep the content! If you had to pick your favorite pairings of plants for a back/middle/front what would you go with?

  5. Hi, Bobby!! Love your videos & like this look!! My issue: front yard landscaping for mostly shade, zone 6, ranch style home…. help!!!!

  6. Great videos 👍🏻

Question! How to plan out large property like a farm. Snowy winter. Hope to see a video like that 🙏🏻🙏🏻

  7. Hi Bobby, long time fan. I have a corner lot in a suburban neighborhood. There are sidewalks that get a lot of walking traffic. I would love to put in a big attention-getting bed on the corner for everyone to enjoy. Can send pictures if you’d like.

  8. Would love a video addressing choice of evergreens to create a balanced and beautiful Christmas light display.

  9. I’ve been working on my own landscape design using your videos as inspiration/guidance. Do you ever review other peoples concepts, maybe do a video to give feedback/constructive criticism/tips?

  10. Hey Bobby … how about a special on backyard grill setups. Islands, columns, grill surrounds, how to tie in with a pavilion or similar. Thanks for the tips!

  11. A lot of us have old worn out decks. What can we do to help them out? New railings, skirting, staining, etc. there’s all this open space – what do we do with it? Build a bar, fire pit, table…

  12. I Love that… 👍 My front yard is in the full sun all day. I need the plants like these but it looks like they do better in shade!!!!

  13. As I'm getting older, I'm finding that I'm changing my landscaping using less perennials and focusing more on trees, shrubs and evergreens. Would love to see more foundation planting ideas featuring medium to small shrubs and evergreens. I also think it's interesting to include foliage in a mix of greens, blues, chartreuse, and reds.

  14. I am in Godfrey IL. I just planted some Nelly Stevens Holly bushes (2’) for privacy and the green effect. They all look kind of bad. We have had a decent amount of precipitation. What could be my problem?

  15. I am in Godfrey IL. I just planted some Nelly Stevens Holly bushes (2’) for privacy and the green effect. They all look kind of bad. We have had a decent amount of precipitation. What could be my problem?

  16. I had to build a 30 ft fence wall across part of my backyard to block a neighbor's view. What can I plant at the bottom that would grow and attach. Both sides get part sun Also I would like it to stay all year. I live in middle ga zone 8. Thanks

  17. Love the variations in green and the content of your videos. Good food for thought as you contemplate changes you might make to your landscape.

  18. Love all of it.
I have acre + but have always had boundaries,so I'm thinking of a Black chainlink fence so I can do planting ,your thoughts

  19. I'd love to see you do a house on a flag-shaped lot in a culdesac. Here in Florida, there are a LOT of culdesacs and it's really awkward to landscape them.

  20. I always love your designs but it’s so fast for me (I’m old lol). I enjoy the slower videos much better.

  21. Love the limelight Coral bells. I would love some in my landscape. Overall nice lower maintenance and structured design. For now though for me personally, I love all the bright colors in my landscape. I'm sure that will change as I get older like another commenter stated. Flowers are work! Love love Cannas. I have 4 varieties in pots. I would love more but don't want to overwhelm myself.

  22. I can plant the stuff, I just can’t design it. I know what I like when I see it, but I need help picking the right plants for my situation.

If I want to hire some help to design my front yard landscape and tell me what to buy and where to plant each thing, what do I search for? Are their options available online, or do I need to find someone local?

  23. I love the green along the walkway and lighting it all up at night. Loving these short and informative videos.

  24. Looks great! I'd love to know how to deal with odd shaped gardens, ours is an extended triangle. Also how to design under large mature trees.

  25. Love the green effect! Would love to do something similar to my mid mod cottage in the woods of mid-northern Michigan. Problem is finding plants and shrubs that thrive in the acidic dry Sandy soil and don’t become a smorgasbord for the deer.🤪

  26. I like that you mixed different greens; this makes the design more interesting.
Also: We have nothing out front of our house because we had a guy pull out our terribly overgrown bushes. And, our house is mostly brick, but with horrible mint green siding up top. Yes.🤢 How could we make the front of our house look better, while waiting for new siding? Thanks 😃

  27. You already know I love you! You have touched on this before but maybe it could be a full video. For the people that can not use your services or for those who can: What is the process to get bids, designs, time-frames from landscaping companies? What to ask ? Deposit expectations? I have used 2 independent landscaping guys in the last 6 years. One was Great! Did a great job but overpriced everything he bought for the project and the other took 9 months to do a simple side yard landscaping project and it's ok. I got references before signing a contract with them. Idk just some pointers on how to start the process. I like how to start the process with your designs in your business. But the ones I used didn't have that step. Thank you!!

  28. We have about a 14 acre property. Wondering best tips for planning on a larger scale land unit and a multi year process. Any thoughts for planning would be helpful. We have a new long permitted driveway that we would like to tree, planning a new barn in the next two years, and a greenhouse. Needing inspiration and a good process to follow on a large project. Pasture is rectangle about 10 acres; and house and land is about 3 acres on a road so would like some ideas for road noise as well. Live in the coastal Pacific Northwest, zone 8a. Love your videos! Thanks for the content!

  29. Love all the green! We’ve recently moved to the Ozark’s in south central Missouri and our soil is pretty much clay and rocks. I’ve got two beds in front of my porch that I’ve tried to amend with good soil. We planted some boxwood, rosemary, lavender, azaleas, butterfly bushes, Shasta daisies, and echinacea last spring in them. Most all seemed to do well throughout our humid hot summer and mild fall, then winter hit and we dipped down to some pretty extreme cold temps for a bit in December and I’m pretty sure we lost everything except the Shasta daisies.😢 We made sure to plant what was in our zone, so I’m not sure why I’ve lost my beds? Should I have covered them with something during those extreme times, or were they maybe just not established enough? I’d love to know what might work better for my area and with my soil before we invest in more landscaping this spring.

  30. Hey! Just found your channel this morning and already watched 5 videos. We are getting ready to landscape our yard but our yard has so much sand!! We live in Colorado and a lot of the homes in the neighborhood have a big sand problem. What would you suggest?

  31. We moved into a house that been vacant for two years. Needless to say everything was very over grown. The property is 4 acres and much of it is wooded. We have seen a lot of deer, coyotes, foxes, but last summer we discovered another animal-copperhead snakes. The first one was living under our porch so we sealed up all the cracks. The second one was found by our dog after it bit him on the snout! Thankfully the dog is fine. We had all the bushes against the foundation removed because the snakes like to take cover under them and in fact we saw a snake go into a hole under a holly bush right next to the front door!! Now we are starting from scratch. What can we plant that the deer won’t want eat and the snakes won’t want to live in? I’ve read that some plants (lemon grass, mint, lavender) can repel the snakes, but other people say that there is no plant that will discourage the snakes from coming near the house. Should things be planted a certain distance from the foundation. Should we also stay clear of any type of ground cover plant? I’ve also read that you should not use mulch as snakes like to nest in it. What can we use in replacement of wood mulch? Sorry so many questions! I just don’t know where to even begin landscaping this house.

  32. Going to work on landscaping a 1950's rental house this summer. We must do it ourselves for economic reasons and because I love landscaping! BUT my experience has only been slowly over time. Not the whole yard at once. I am checking out your videos for ideas. This house is a yellow green clapboard. Should I stay away from yellow greens in the plants? We have a mountain ash on the front south corner. The side of the house faces south on a corner lot. The south lawn is probably a foot lower than the front yard and we need to re-slope it away from the basement windows. I am thinking to make this narrow strip a bit of a garden spot/oasis for sitting in under the old elm. I want some privacy from the street without blocking the whole view with a solid fence. I am thinking a square lattice fence and plants for barriers. I know it is important to repeat plants to draw the eyes across the scape. I do want lots of variety in this space. To walk through and enjoy discovering a new interesting plant or flower. Is there a foundational rule to help me figure out a good number of plants to repeat? Thanks for your ideas!

  33. Hi there! I love you videos! They are very informative. I have sweet gum trees in my front and back yard that I loath. They drop seedpods all over the place and it's really hard to keep up with maintenance and cleanup. Woodpeckers and storm damage have gotten a hold of the ones in the back. I feel guilty getting rid of the tree(s) but I'm at my breaking point. What are your thoughts?

  34. I have recently discovered you and your videos and have thoroughly enjoyed them.

I own a little rancher ( basic rectangular design with carport at end). Long story short I was unable to mow my lawn because of a medical issue so covered my entire yard in gravel. I painstakingly put down plastic to prevent weeds. Then I had to redig the center out due to a water main break. My intent was to make it a work of art. That was 6 years ago. During covid I had both knees replaced and my yard is still a disaster zone and…ugly. I am thinking I should turn it back into grass and flower beds. I didn't know where to even start beautifying a gravel front yard and am no further ahead with a new lawn from scratch. Do you have any videos that deal with either? I am beyond lost.

  35. I'm so thankful I stumbled across your channel! I've learned so much and really appreciate the transparent and direct advice. I would love to see some more contemporary landscaping ideas – specifically ways to incorporate rusted steel planters, rusted steel trim pieces, slatted wood, concrete, etc. I love a contemporary front yard but definitely want to landscape on a budget, so any ideas would be great! Thanks 🙂

  36. Bobby, love your work. I live on a corner lot and would love to ideas that dress up the corner. And suggestions for a hardy plant, grass, shrubs that can be planted close to the sidewalk that can survive snow being plowed close by. Thanks

  37. I love the 3 different taller trees/bushes that are all different shades of green.
In general I really like the look of the green against the color of this house in particular. Beautiful design and great info!

  38. Man you’re fast. And Its beautiful. You are capable of creating what we all try so hard to vision when we think about yard beautification and curb appeal. How our plants will look at maturity. You and your design tools are amazing.

  39. I am a first time home owner and so appreciate what you are teaching me! Can't wait to get started this spring! Loving the green effect but also want to add a pop of color. What smaller flowering plants would you reccomend?
