Very useful tips Ivan Thanks for posting. Ive only got rhubarb to cover. Everything alse is indoors.🙂
what about blueberry and blackcurrant already in the ground? Also raspberry rhubarb and gooseberry? i also have wormwood and lungwort and lavender, im confused….
Should I run out and cover my rhubarb?
Crypto currency and NFTs will outsmart the banking system in the nearest future serving as a global fiat. Already making over 85% profit from my current investment ☺️〽️
Thanks for the tips Ivan, my seeds are inside and anything else is now fleeced. I'm wondering about my emerging strawberry plants though, would you cover them if outside?
Snowing in Ireland. So its on its way to you.
Good ideas Ivan and like you said anything is better than nothing. I grow cut flowers for florists and the season extension is a must in our nordic climate. My strategy for frost protection is layering fleece and plastic. One layer protects 1-2 C. I have managed to save ranunculus, snapdragons, stock/matthiola and other cold hardy seedlings/plants in – 8 C night frost with four layers (f-p-f-p).
One good rule of thumb is to observe the sky in the previous evening. If it is clear sky and northernly wind or no wind it will be -6 C degrees colder the next morning. So if it is +5 C in the evening and no clouds I need to protect the plants.. if it is already 0 C or negative in the evening and sky is clear.. then go "all in".
Hope your brassicas survive Ivan. They can take some frost without problems.
Thanks Ivan, great hits and tips. Snow has arrived here in Swansea. Good luck everyone hope your plants will be ok.
