  1. I planted a clematis in with my trellised rose (mine is a rambler, not a climber, I think) last year. Can’t wait to see the intermingling of the two this summer!

  2. I know this is off subject. I am trying to find out how long after using Biotone starter fertilizer do I need to use the other Biotone fertilizer. HELP! I've tried to look online but inconclusive.

  3. I have a climbing Joseph’s Coat rose which has been producing beautifully for about eight years and I want to relocate it. I cut it way back to prepare for the move but have not pulled the trigger yet. I wanted to get your advice first. Im really afraid of killing or shocking the plant. I’m in zone 10 so ready to plant!

  4. Flower bed cleanup videos and pruning videos are so satisfying! But like why though! 🤣 I’m hoping one day I can get my own Colette rose! ❤️ my fiancé and I rent a house right now, but hopefully within the next two years we will be moving into our permanent home, and this rose is high on my list to buy! Thank you for everything Laura!

  5. I got real lazy last fall, didn't do garden and yard cleanup for winter. I am really appreciating which chores you tackle, have been following along with my own pruners. I'm finding out that it'll be ok by summer! Thanks

  6. Laura, I just wanted to put it out there since you've been having foot pain, that you may have some bones in your feet out of alignment. A quick trip to your chiropractor and they should be able to tell you. We have lots of gravel on our property and this happened to me.

  7. GM you are giving me spring fever, lol. With a rose variety such as Collette, with no major diseases how long is the life span of the rose, just wondering about planting a climber and the structures around it and then having to worry about removal?

  8. The picture of the arbours of roses in bloom, and Samantha Grace in her little leopard print Vans, captures summer perfectly. Thank you for sharing that moment with us!

I notice you don't mound the base of the rose with soil in winter. Do you mound younger, less established roses? I find it helpful in a zone 5, that is transitioning into zone 6.

Also, looking at the invasive nature of both raspberries and strawberries, and seeing how the potted Strasberry (aka Framberry) has sent rooted runners everywhere, I think you might consider digging out anything close to the rose roots. Even if it does fruit well in years to come, you might need to give it another location sooner than later. I hope you don't mind me saying so,

Thank you for everything you do. How many thousands of lives you bless with your generosity of spirit, your expert knowledge, your charming aesthetic, and your down-to-earth / can-do attitude that puts us at ease and empowers us too!

  9. pruning roses is one of the most satisfying jobs, isn't it? "cleaning the clutter" my hubby likes to say… this is a great video! i like to hard prune mine, too, esp since we deal with rust and blackspot and aphids (ugh) but oh so worth it when they bloom and scent the air… i love those colettes but have nowhere to grow them.. i have a community slope behind my house and i've often said i want to just "accidentally" plant a few vining things on the slope.. haha.. i'm thinking if i share vining veggies with the crew that tends to it, it might be ok!! not sure how'd they feel about thorny roses, but it sure is tempting!! it looked cold out there! how do you work in the cold? i'm such a wimp! 🥰❤thanks for the video!! 🥰❤

  10. I know that I'll be watching this video a lot over the next few years. I just ordered my first climbing rose, a David Austin Strawberry Hill, that I am planting in memory of my mother who passed away earlier this month. She loved roses. I know I'll be nervous the first time I prune it, but Laura's instructions will guide me through. 😊 Sending much love to the GA family from Illinois zone 5b.

  11. Excellent! I followed your pruning advice last year and my climbing roses that never bloom were amazing! They were so beautiful. Thank you.

  12. Thank you for teaching me so much about gardening. I was wondering who named Russell? His name seems to fit him to a tee.😺

  13. Nice Laura. Great info. Makes more.sense doing brief recaps if snow or something interupts otherwise it takes ages to figure from prior footage. But you already new from experience so I'm talking to thin air really. Hi Air how are you today? Huh.

  14. What a difference. They look fantastic. Yes you’re step by step was great. Understood it all. They were amazing last year so this year should be the same. Can hardly wait to see them. Thank you so very much for sharing this with us. Appreciated.🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦

  15. I was so excited when you showed these arbors. Out of all the flowers I’ve seen in your garden, those roses are so beautiful. I’ve never seen roses that look like that. They’re perfection, and that’s coming from someone that usually isn’t into pink roses.

  16. Very helpful thank you.. I do really good with shrub roses, however, climbing I was cutting off lateral canes, which I guess is a no, no LOL. No wonder I have not got lots of blooms yet.

  17. Can't wait to see these when they are in full bloom. I learned a lot from this one – be brave and prune back a bit harder. It's a snow day here in Victoria, BC. Thanks Laura!

  18. Hi! First I love starting my day with your videos and I have been waiting for this one! I have a one year old climbing rose in a pot and the branches seem to all have some black running along them. Should I cut my losses or prune it back all the way or something else?? It didn’t flower at all last year and struggled with mealy bugs but I was so hoping to get some blooms this year.

  19. ☀️Thanks! 🙂 ques. Can any? type of rose be grown indoors in a large pot? Any info for what outdoor flowerig plants do ok indoors?

  20. I’m so ready to get some spring clean up done if it would stop snowing! Watching you do it makes me so excited for my turn! Wait! Did Laura go ahead and take that debated branch off the willow?!

  21. Seeing the shot of the Hartley, behind you on day 2, made me wonder….do you ever think of having something climbing (roses, ivy) somewhere on the Hartley? Or would that be too much work to take care of?
