I bet you’re glad you got this down before the snow came and turned it all into a soggy mess!
I hand cut all my perennials. Not a huge yard but still a lot of work. My neighbor used a weedwhacker to cut her garden down. I'm trying that next year. As I get older, it's harder to bend down for all that cutting.
I’d be interested in seeing what (if anything) grows out there in the ‘Pasture Piles’. 🍀
My composting area sometimes has some interesting survivors that come up. 😁
🥰✅
Hey Laura! Where did you get the collapsible trash can? I’ve seen a few on Amazon, but yours looks like it’s pretty sturdy. Also, the trimmer? Thanks for all you do to inspire us! 💐💐💐
Fascinated by the grass being brown at this time of year! Here in England it’s the other way around, our grass is green in winter when it’s rainy, and brown in the height of summer when it’s dry. Is it because the winter is so cold where you are?
Great job 🎉🎉
She's so flippin cute!
Great video! Will you fertilize before the new mulch is put down?
I just finished cleaning out all my flower beds this past Tuesday. I’m having surgery on the 3rd and knew it would drive me crazy knowing I had that chore to do after recovering. So now, I will be ready to start planting when I’ve recovered. Thank you for sharing your time and knowledge on gardening. I look forward to the videos ❤
Yes!! That little bit concerning the wind and watering you added at the end – your friends in western Oklahoma would LOVE to get more advise on gardening with wind. It’s brutal. Also, thank you for showing the clean up. It’s so helpful to see how you do it.
I thought about you guys when Redding CA zone 9 got about 8 inches of snow last night. Once every other year we get a snowmaggetton! I have pics but not sure how to share with you. You are an inspiration. Thank you!
On my ballerina slippers hibiscus this year I got a bunch of thick white webbing underneath the leaves (almost like sewing stuffing). Would you know what that could be and how to treat it so I can hopefully not have it this growing season?
Laura, can you please educate us on the different types and materials of planters/pots. Now is a great time to order for the spring! Thanks.
Hope someone made a hot cup of tea for you, when you got back to the house. Stay warm and stay safe. You don't drive on the grass in the winter time?
Who knew, Laura, that the sight of your ears in the wind would provide such amusement! Happy chuckles!
Now that your property has expanded, do you ever use the Gorilla cart anymore?
Taking most everything down to the ground every year how will it ever look like an established garden?
How do you keep the camera from blowing over? Also the sirens brought to mind, the car that crashed through the fence.
I had a humongous pile of debris when I cleaned out just two of my beds- I do have 2 large oak trees and a sycamore tree though. I have a handy hint for people that are tightwads like me- I use old flat bed sheets when I clean up. I rake all the debris into a pile then spread the old flat sheet out beside it and rake everything onto it. I can get quite a large pile on it and then I grab all four corners of the sheet and drag it to my compost pile. My old sheets usually last about 4-5 years and by then I have another one ready to replace them with. Happy Gardening friends.
It’s a good amount of time but probably could be faster if she had her green bag the entire time BUT way better than I could do with my ADD.
Looks really good. That hedge trimmer is a game changer!
Amazed at how fast this goes with the hedge trimmer!!!!! Will definitely use it!!! Thanks!!!!
If I lived locally, I would gladly go help!
if you put out a hour long video of your detailed clean up I would still watch it , just peaceful chopping, cutting, raking ….. occasional siren ….
You are very brave working in the wind today but did get lots accomplished!!!
Using your hedge trimmer is a brilliant 💡idea!!
I love my hedge trimmer for cutting back. It really does make it so much faster and easier!
Love Laura and Aaron's never-ending energy! The videos always motivate me and encourage me to "GO For it!" . Question – I know there have been GA episodes on pest control. However, has there been anything on companion planting to deter pests and/or trap them? Laura, have you ever done companion planting to help deter pests? My Dahlias got nailed last year with spider mites. This year, I am layering Sun Flowers, Dill (deterant) , Basil (deterant) Dahilias, and finally marigolds (traps). You have taught us all to experiment, so I am! 🙂🙂🙂
Hi Laura – Love your videos and how much you give to your community. But why do you use the term Hey Guys? Applying the term guys can end up excluding, ignoring, or creating discomfort for some people – particularly women and nonbinary people. There are many gender neutral terms that can be used. For example: Hi everyone, Hi, Hi folks, Hi y’all. Thanks for considering how Hey Guys can negatively affect people.
What do you use to edge the grass walkway? It looks nice and neat.
Good afternoon Laura and family
Cleaning up is saying Spring is on the way yay. Great job Laura, thanks for sharing. 👋🙂💨
Why, why, why…. have I never thought of using a hedge trimmer for Winter cleanup! It's genius. Thanks! We, in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, still with 2+ feet of snow, but now I am excited to find that ole' hedge trimmer!
Love the hedge trimmer use. Going to try that in my clean up!
Great video, encouragement to us all to get started on clean up in preparation for spring.
Your stone pathway looks so awesome! I can hardly wait to see the video!
Very productive day. You did leave up a lot of winter interest! It's amazing what a transformation that takes place from brown and beige, to lush green grass and color…can't wait!
Are you going to do an update on the poppies you started in the milk jugs? I did this as well and was wondering what the next step is for them. I have heard they have a deep tap root and don't like being transplanted. Is this true?
🌿🌸Laura looks like it is a perfect time to get Aaron out and finish that walkway before it is Spring planting OR 110* 🌞 let’s go. 😂
No gloves!❤
Aaron, you’ve got to get her one of this multi tools with the hedger attachment so she can stand while taking down those perennials. It would be even faster.
Love "Spring" clean up. Great workout you got in!
How do you work out in the cold wind without gloves? Weren't your hands freezing?!? I live 20 miles from you and I put on gloves to walk from the house to the shop!! I feel like I'm such a wimp compared to you! 🤨😉 As always, love your videos!
Good morning Sweet Laura, Twenty – Six days @ Counting tell Spring, O happy day. How's your beautiful family? My young seedlings are looking great, I planted in the containers, that I could, so when the time comes I'll have a lot of my planting done. It's been so much fun, watching them grow. Have a wonderful weekend. sending love to you all,.Wanda
Hi Laura! The stone pathway is looking great! Thank you so much for sharing!
Any reason why the brush Perennials couldn't all or most be left for mulch instead of being cut back. I've left my grasses in the past as well as some of the others..some go to seed…it seems to make a good mulch
I would love to see you repeat that beginning walk through section again in a few months and combine them into a Short. It would look like before and after going to Oz!
I noticed you didn't drive the gator on the grass. Are you supposed to avoid stepping on that during the winter?
Looks great as always, do you have plans to edge the driveway sides with bricks?
