And if you have the space plant some fruit trees for the long term
Are F1 a hybrid?
I have been hard-core gardening over 5 years now. It is tough and so much to learn. Still have much to learn but it is the most satisfying project I do
I had tons of tomatoes last year. This year I’m going to learn how to can then so I don’t lose tomatoes this year.
I grew up eating virtually organic home grown and there is nothing like a ripe veggie fresh from your garden.
Great video, Kris! I'm so glad you highlighted the growing zones issue. For Canadian viewers, our growing zones are slightly different, and you can find them by looking up "Canada's Plant Hardiness Zones." Familiarize yourself with your first and last frost dates, and support your local greenhouses. They usually have the best varieties for your area and some awesome people who can give great advice besides.
Happy growing, folks!
Fucking excellent video Chris 👌
great show
Your planting soil will determine the nutritional value of the fruits and vegetables you grow. Adding compost will help your soil maintain the nutrition needed. Mulching your plants can help with water retention and weed reduction.
I'm a horrible gardener lol. I haven't given up though.
I've gardened for several years, and mostly grow tomatoes and hot peppers. For beginning tomato growers, don't use a sprinkler for watering! The water on the leaves makes them much more susceptible to root rot. Love digging in the dirt!
There is a Mexican cucumber that is draught tolerant.
There are edible flowers, they can help attract bees, or not attract too much attention.
I’m taking the steps to have about 10 chickens and a tiny garden! Wish me luck!
Gardening is a multi year learning experience. Make this your first year if you are new to gardening and I wish you a bountiful harvest 👍
Knowing when to plant in up-state NY is a nightmare. Last year, (first year) I had some success, some fails. Planting too early caused me double work in some plants. Lesson learned. I have seeds now that I will start indoors. I will fight the temptation to plant early.
Last year in Riverside California, it was too hot for my tomatoes to set. I intended to can tomatoes last year. However out of 35 plants I got a handful of very small tomatoes. The second set in the fall provided more then the spring crop half of them were diseased. I believe that I am feeling the effects of the grand solar minimum. I have never had these problems with my Gardens in the last 35 years.
Well done and great information. Your local agricultural extension agency is a golden source of information, too.
Awesome information Chris. I plan on starting a small garden of vegetables I use frequently. Thanks 🙏🏾
Great gardening advice and thank you for providing this very detailed guide on how to grow our best food for our tables.
A nation's debt, a weighty toll,
A burden felt, with every bill we roll.
But to sustain, our needs so grand,
We raise the ceiling, and take a stand.
For spending grows, as time goes by,
With every need, and every ally.
We build and fund, and make things right,
For future generations, and the world in sight.
And so we borrow, what we can't afford,
With interest payments, a debt outpour.
But still we rise, and take the chance,
For progress, growth, and financial advancement.
The debt will rise, but so will we,
With strength and might, for all to see.
For in this choice, we make a stand,
To invest in future, with a helping hand.
So let us raise the debt ceiling high,
With courage bold, and steadfast eye.
For though we borrow, and add to our load,
We do it with purpose, and with wisdom bestowed.
We figured out why our garden spot didn't work out. Walnut trees. Apparently that is an issue near a garden. So this year, we will start iver and stay away from them. Wish us luck! I'm getting into canning now and ready for spring!
