  1. I'm really regretting not finding and planting an edgeworthia last year. And that flowering apricot! I just need to find more things that flower in winter – both of my camellias are fall blooming, so while many of my evergreens are holding it down, I want to see more color.

  2. Thank you for introducing me to the Edgeworthia tree! Within the last year I have planted not one but two. I think they’re an amazing looking tree. ❤

  3. Brie,
Is that an early bird nest in the Prunus mume "Bonita" or a squirrel nest? It's a bit farther out on the limb for squirrel preference, so I'm thinking bird nest, but sometimes the squirrels can surprise ya.
Btw, tickled pink that you used the weed block in the window boxes–it's always worked really well for me in containers, both outdoors & in the house.
    Thank you. 😊

  4. The January jasmine is so pretty when left in its arching form.
After it flowers, start to remove the oldest stems
all the way to the ground,
It does not need it, but looks so much better by keeping it juvenile.
It can take up a lot of space otherwise by rooting at the nodes,
and building up a taller woody frame over time.

I see a lot of this species in a sheared state,
and that is a missed opportunity
to grow a plant that is the best of its form otherwise.

There is no better plant for cascading over a wall.
    Form .
    Texture.
A groundcove, a shrub, or a vine depending on pruning and training.

    Love it.

  5. Everything in my yard looks like your bottom shelf in your growing wall!!!! hahaha…..But! hopefully, when spring arrives, things will pop up and I'll be happy again! Love your show. 🙂 (zone 7b)

  6. I missed it Brie, what is the hardiness on prunus mume? I assume I can’t have it in 6a but I have to know for sure!

  7. Yes on the deer 😤😡 they are the worst! They’ve partially destroyed things they aren’t “supposed” to bother (small boxwood) and uprooted other things. I have a small patch that I direct seed and I put up a small barrier with stakes and string. Because it’s up against another structure and narrow, it does prevent deer from bothering with it. It was temporary but now I need to make it permanent…always projects going on out there!

  8. My poppy seedlings also died that were in a pot. I reseeded and they germinated pretty quickly. So still hoping that pot turns out well!
