  1. Perfect timing, I’m setting up my seed starting shelves now haha. Thank you as always for the tips!

  2. Laminate the paper or put it in a plastic sleeve and hang it from the shelf so you can quickly review it without water interference.

  3. Last year this time I set it up and started all my plants from seed. I followed these guidelines and had great success. My first time.

  4. I use an excel spreadsheet to list all my seedlings. Each seed tray is marked with a letter and each row (or six pack) in the tray with a number. Since I reuse the same (type of) trays over and over, it's just a matter of changing the spreadsheet from what was planted before to what's going in next. This saves me a lot of time because the spreadsheets can be filled out long before anything is planted and more than one copy can be printed out. The individual tray sheets then just go in a binder for quick reference and to make the plant labels. May sound like a lot of work 😁but once the spreadsheet is set up for a tray, it can just be duplicated over and over for different seedling trays.

  5. Nice video Gary – Thanks. Are the lighting fixtures regular fluorescent shop lights – OR – are they special for the LED tubes? Can you provide a link to one of the LED bulbs please.

  6. Literally just saw the other day another yourube channel saying that you can add the lumens. I was surprised but something wasn't adding up in my mind. I still had to keep my plants within a similar distance from the lights.

  7. I’ve been using the shelving and 4’ long shop lights. Works great in a southern facing window on a timer. I’m frustrated that every video out there is about starting seeds. I live in the high desert and seeds won’t be started for 2 or 3 more months. What I DO GROW is dwarf tomatoes, celery, green onions and a lot of hydroponic lettuce. We get none of the above fresh at the store. Where can I find a channel that understands those of us that go dormant in the winter? Everyone makes me feel guilty that I’m not starting seeds already. I recommend folks like me grow lettuce and dwarf tomatoes. Add their own cooked and seasoned garbanzos along with avocado and whatever else they love. I make some lovely salads and they’re fresh which is what I need during these long dark winters

  8. Hi Gary! I came across a rusted garden tool today and chuckled to myself; thought of you. Thanks for the video 🪴💚😊

  9. I am growing lettuce under LED shop lights with great success. First time and I love having fresh lettuce! Thanks for great advice 🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦

  10. I used a shiny mylar blanket around my shelf and it worked well both to keep seeds warm and amplify the grow lights. Worked well.
