Consuming high amounts of ultraprocessed foods was associated with a 28% faster rate of cognitive decline and a 25% faster rate of executive function decline over the eight year study period.

TRANS PHOBES BEING ALL ANTI-TRANS-FAT
Thanks for bringing this to light
It is becoming more obvious but we have to do something about it. I do all I can to avoid them but living in this world sometimes you have to have them. I suspect that processed food has contaminates that are a lot more toxic than we think… see the law suit against Hershey's for lead in the dark chocolate. It is everywhere.
Happy New Year to all! Go out there and respect your body, mind and soul and give them what they need. This includes timeless and timely information and facts that Mike discusses and takes up in his incredible videos.
My memory has never been very good.
Thanks for the video
I still don't get it. What even is a processed food? Does cooking potatoes "process" them? Does extruding grain "process" it? Where is the line?
This seems to be association/correlation, not direct evidence. It might be that people who do not exercise tend to eat more processed foods (or generally ear more of any food than necessary). And exercise might be the key to decline prevention.
I agree: take this data seriously. But associate healthy habits related to the lifestyle, not just to the diet. Take care, Doc.
"I dont have the time to cook" I prepare dinner, then breakfast and lunch for the next day in under 40 minutes.
Literally just fry a load of meat and veg together. Eat half of it for dinner and wrap the other half In tortillas for lunch the next day. DONE!
Damning Thank you for your continued work!
An older lady at church was being lazy….eating mostly cheese …not cooking….she moved in with her son and his wife…..they cooked meats veggies etc……she said her memory came back
Depopulation is a good thing. You're part of the problem by giving advice. Be part of the solution and shut up.
There needs to be a food revolution….bill gates owns Cargill foods ….one of his employees said " I think they are trying to kill people"
Take high quality probiotics to get off junk…..to get rid of sugar cravings to a cleanse with food grade diatomaceous earth and a clove of raw garlic…chop up and swallow
Stop buying illuminatie foods
The owners of the companies hate usa
They are trying to kill us on purpose…read the oaths they take for their secret societies
Can anyone give their opinion….is EXEKIAL BREAD considered processed? Or unhealthy…..I have to have toast
What about those chik pea noodles??
We can't cook everything from scratch
Stay at home !and eat ultraprocessed food!
Mike do you feel that society is getting more healthy overall? That seems to be the trend in my small circle of influence.
For people to value healthy longevity later on in their life, we need a self identity based on a narrative of future mindedness, that what we do now have impacts later on to our future self, aka executive function. However cognitive decline which includes the loss of executive function from brain atrophy, can make us all impatient and short sighted. Now when we add the unhealthy ultra processed food addiction into this mix, and you tell me why big foods industry would ever want us to eat healthy, assuming their executive function is working properly.
Great video! good to see people get the information out there!
Today, is the day, my last day, eating the hog đ. Iâm eating only food I cook or ferment.
Iâll f/u in 30 days
Ok, so as someone with Celiac Disease, I have to be Gluten Free, how do I find things to eat that aren't processed like this
Make time for health or make time for sickness, itâs a choice.
I have been trying to do this very thing for several years.I am almost 77 and have been able to eliminate some meds even though I have multiple diagnosis probably most due to processed foods for most of my life! Thanks for letting the world know this, much easier to stop damage than to try to reverse it.
Kimchi is ok.
Thank you sir…By the way…Jack LaLayne used to tell me "If man made it, don't eat it!"……another Great nutrition video!
No more wondering why people are bat-shite crazy these days.
I agree with you thank you for speaking truth. Eat real food!
The same probably applies to our pets. My cat has a very boring diet of stuff that comes in a bag and lasts for a long time.
This is soooooo true! Cancer can also be avoided by staying away from processed foods, refined carbs and sugar!
The truth is with this recent economy Everyone needs more than there salary to be financially stable. The the best thing to do with your money is to lnvest it rightly because money left for saving always end up used with no returns..
"Damning" – just a wee spelling correction.
You have to speak slower. There is no need to talk so fast, itâs not big and itâs not necessary.
Brilliant information and advice. Thanks for sharing this.
Excellent video. It should read "Damning" not "Damming", though.
Thankyou for content. I wanna see what you eat in a day! And your supplement drawđ.
Great video and makes total sense, a good reminder to stick with whole, natural foods as much as possible. It got me thinking, however, where protein powders fit in this mix? I use a vegan protein powder post-workout with Greek yogurt and a little peanut butter and almond milk as a smoothie but recognize that the powder would likely fit into the âultra processedâ categoryâŠwould that be correct? Although not foundational to my diet, I use it as an enhancement to my nutrition, which is largely comprised of whole natural foods. Should we avoid protein powders altogether given their processed nature, even if used with the intention to improve health benefits and outcomes?
Amazing information. I wish we could teach more of this in our schools and communities. You can save money by shopping the outside aisles of the store and not eating processed foods.
For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. (Romans 6:23)
Therefore also now, saith the LORD, turn ye even to me with all your heart, and with fasting, and with weeping, and with mourning: And rend your heart, and not your garments, and turn unto the LORD your God: for he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and repenteth him of the evil. (Joel 2:12-13)
For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. (Romans 10:13)
Good luck to everyone making their health journey. I'm well into mine, and I'm so happy I did. Should you ever feel stress related to your fitness journey, just remember, that you're not alone, and it's worth it.
The paper states association, and you imply causation? Why? I expected better from you.
Itâs the oils.
The 'KETO' label on boxed/canned/packaged foods and snacks are not that great for you.
Along with many of the sweetener alternatives. You'll still get sugar cravings from all of them if you go to the well too often.
I work with a lot of old sick people, the healthy eating ship has sailed by then. They wouldn't eat healthy food for a million dollars. Protein malnutrition is widespread. Now there are lots of reasons for this, many can't chew or have poor appetite, etc. Develop healthy habits now and maintain them as long as you can.
About 60 years ago on the tv show, this man noticed the same thing, as some people were buying the wrong foods in the store. Nothing has changed in 60 years. Everything he says is true up until the last word.
