I have a very woody (100 year old oak trees) area around our Alabama house and lots of squirrels that like to bury nuts in the soil of our foundation garden. We put down weed cloth on the dirt before planting all plants but now it seems to be such a waste. The wood chips have broken down and now we have little trees growing up and weeds that have started growing on top of the weed cloth….I am thinking of removing the weed cloth to make it so I can take better care of the weed problem…. any helpful advice on making it easier to care for the area would be appreciated.
Good Morning Laura, Hope you and your family had a wonderful Christmas. I have the Brown Turkey Fig and all the leaves got burn freeze I hope they come back. Here in North Central FL zone 9B normally don't get cold down to 27 F but got it for 3 days. Just hoping that my Carrie Mango, Persian Lime, Banana and Pineapples and the covers helped. Stay safe and warm you all I know a lot of you got hammered with ice and snow. 🙏 Awe, I love seeing Russell & Cheddar snuggle 😻those paws so cute!.

Definitely motivating. When you planted the lettuce seeds, I thought … I should do that … but didn't. So this morning I planted a dozen lettuce seeds … 2 seeds per cell in a 6 cell.
This past summer I did a bowl of lemon coral sedum and loved it on our patio table! ❤
Question: why have you opted to use bagged potting mix rather than making your own, especially considering how much potting mix you use? Do you have a recipe for homemade potting mix? Also, can you tell me more about the green container you use to hold soil while repotting?

Those black eyed susans looked so happy after the haircut! I always get such a feeling of ahhhh after pruning back a plant that seriously needed it. Just think it makes them look so happy and healthier.. Love it. Almost as good as my own haircuts!
This was a great repotting video. I live in north Iowa, zone 5a. I love Rudbeckia and I don’t think it comes back every year here, but may reseed. I had one by my front door garden that did so good last year. Now I’m anxious to see if it will come back or maybe reseed close by. I also love the sedum you repotted. Is that one that is hardy to my zone. I’ll have to check that out. Thanks Laura. Happy New Year to you all.
