as i say near the end, gonna switch things up a bit next year. the past 5 or so months worth of videos, including this one, are the result of several smaller video ideas compiling. mainly due to new game releases that i been trying to keep up with, messing up what lil scheduling i have, and this weird goal that i fell into of vids needing to be a certain size, or a have a certain level of 'comprehensiveness' whatever that even really means, and a couple experiments in seeing what might or might not appeal to the algo which seems to be, as i thought, entirely random, so that was a lil pointless in retrospect lol.

so next year, ill stop stressing new releases, or video length, or whatever else, and just go with my gut and make what i wanna make. will prolly result in more shorter / focused videos. not saying that i wont ever do giant vids again, but they'll at least be indented to be giant from the jump, and not cuz i kept scrapping shorter videos and mashing em together lol.

anyway thanks for watching : ) hope yall have some nice holidays!

  2. yea Square Enix went pretty crazy with all the releases this year. My jrpg backlog continues to Overflow

  3. I imagine sqenix lost a lot of money trying hard to make AAA live service games. So they went back to the old way of doing things as in making a lot of AA games in between bigger titles such as FF or KH.

  4. Squeenix's best release this year didn't even come out this year because it was Endwalker.

  5. Maaaaaan ima be real for a second and say I fucking love thorhighheels. That monologue about his dad being cap’s off with cat in jacket just hit me in the feels fr reals.

  6. Weirdly Guardians of the Galaxy is more what FFXV could have been if it wasn't open world.

  7. Just finished the vid, thank you for everything you do, it’s been a rough year but you made it through and delivered great content for us! The year of THH 2023

  8. I love your videos. Definitely one of the things I always look forward to in Youtube. It fills the vintage Japanese game culture itch I always like to scratch. Keep em coming. Happy Holidays.

  9. 40:34 excuses, Lenneth's also a empty vassal at the start and you had to get lucky with the steps or follow a fking guide to get the full story and yet nobody says the original had no story! this new valkyrie game stinks of low effort writing and stock assets >_<

  10. I couldn't get past the erratic editing style and the annoying presentation, but I think the video failed to mention the two best Square Enix releases of the year: Triangle Strategy and Tactics Ogre Reborn.

  11. It's amazing how you can glue my eyes to the screen by talking about games I don't even know about yet I enjoy learning about them through your content. Keep up the good work and happy new year!

  12. Guardians of the Galaxy was surprisingly good, really hit me out of left field. Expected a lazy license craptacular and got actually good gameplay with a funny, entertaining story.

  13. im so hurt that you did not hire me, a complete stranger, to do the voice of Rick Ross. This has significantly affected our relationship moving forward.

  14. 20:50 God that ad has so much style and feel to it. Anyway, I immediately bought all Valkyrie games. (Elysium was 50% off on PSN 🧐)

  15. You are one of my most favorite Youtubers, I get excited when you release a new video my dude! I'm so sorry to hear what you had to go through

  16. you make the most unique content on ytp and I cant get enough of it. I’m sorry for your loss with your dad. hope you’re having a happy holidays and I can’t wait for what you put out In the new year

  17. With Squeenix getting the gaming industry back on a chokehold our timeline is being sucked more and more by the "late 90s" vortex
Only a matter of time till roller skates become popular again and we get weird ass 3D mascot platformers that will never catch on

  18. I do want to say that Gungrave GORE isn't just cool in a "PS2 throwback" kind of way, but it has a lot of genuinely well-considered design. It's like an arcade game in how the chaining system works and the breakneck pace. It's on Games Pass, so highly recommend a download if you're on that service, or to watch the Electric Underground's review of it

  19. Great video as always! I am glad Square Enix is releasing a variety of games as of late and I need Valkyrie real bad now looks alsot of fun. Also Square Rampo is also a mighty need.

  20. love it, its like the podcast i dont expect
but since i dont expect it, its like xmas every time <3

  21. There just needs to be a few things that change with Square going forward. They really need to lean in on mentoring and building up their young developers at the company, so they don't have to have vets "bail them out". They really need to reel in their CEO here, he needs to go entirely, or hopefully he has gotten the grift out of his system. However, I both like and am worried about the 2-D/3-D deluge, since I think a lot of people rather than nostalgia are just stuck in the past wholesale as they got older and I feel that can be detrimental with the company going forward. Some titles yes, but this is looking like they'd make an entire division just for these titles, as a desperate tactic to hook and keep people who likely stopped playing most FFs after IX. The annoyingly contrarian crowd that doesn't see how varied the Square fanbase has gotten over the years. I mean hell, Guardians of the Galaxy actually did well, and the whole situation mirrored Tomb Raider where the franchise did decently, but Square wants omegabux, and that was the real reason it was axed. Not to mention being weirdly dismissive of western titles is about as silly as old early 2000s Xbox dudebros saying Japanese rpgs are for nerds. Its all kind of closed minded if I'm honest.

So going forward, I think Square should be as experimental as possible, and as GENUINE as possible in that experimentation, so maybe we get something like Ehrgeiz again lol.

  22. I was hyped for The Centennial Case for months and months, yet so super disappointed by it. The gameplay is really lame….which really came down to matching the corners of the clues. There were far too many clues….repetitive.
