  2. What do you use to treat the water for long term in the blue containers?

  3. Don't forget your car can be a great lifeboat for heat and power, so remember to fill your car's gas tank whenever a large storm is predicted.

  4. Great stuff as usual my man! I have to bust your chops though. I can’t take it any longer. Why do you drive a Jeep? Smh! 4Runners are where it’s at.

  5. This may sound stupid but, windshield wiper fluid! Must use winter fluid, trust me I learned.

  6. Consider this a vote for doing a winter car kit video. I've watched a lot of them and I'm always interested in getting different ideas & perspectives on what to add to my kit. Thank you for all of your content!

  7. Good reminder about water. Water is life. I open my cupboard doors under all the sinks to get a little heat circulating and prevent pipes from freezing from the inside. Also, I fill up any used, empty (cleaned out) gallon jugs with tap water & store in the back of tub/shower, under my seat. I don't take baths, only showers, so it works for me. If you only have a shower 🚿, even better, as there's more room in a corner to stash those gallons of water. Use for hand washing, flushing 🚽, or whatever. Add a pump from empty shampoo/hand sanitizer bottle with pump, and a long plastic tubing, and you won't have to touch it with your dirty hands, just use your wrist or forearm to pump the 🌊 water.

  8. Here in Australia we were warned of heat waves, heat we have never experienced in history here. Guess it will be like the heat the USA suffered through that killed all that live stock

  9. Another excellent video delilvered with good humour – thank you. Just before you said "it's a good way to impale oneself", I'd said to myself "well, that's an accident waiting to happen!". I'm sure the manufacturer had their reasons for including a death-spike… but heaven knows why!

  10. Hello, fellow preppers! I'm a retired heat and frost insulator and safety professional…
Please consider my recommendation regarding the use of Styrofoam "faucet covers" to protect exterior hose bibs (garden hose faucets).
The Styrofoam covers J.R. shares in this video are a good way to prevent your exterior faucets from freezing, resulting in burst pipes, but there is a very simple and essentially free way to provide much better insulation capabilities to their use…
Simply gather up a few pieces of newspaper, crumple them up and pack them around the hose bib fairly tightly. Then attach the Styrofoam cover to the hose bin and continue to crumple up and fill as much dead space inside the cover as possible, but nit so much that it inhibits a good seal of the cover's foam contact edge to the building surface.
This is especially effective in sub-zero weather locations.
    Wishing all a safe winter!!

  11. Love my Zippo hand warmers. My wife got them for me several years ago when we were doing tracking with one of the local kennel clubs. Great amount of heat and they typically last 12+ hours like you said.

  12. It's worth watching you but in the UK πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§ we can't buy some of the stuff you show please advise keep safe πŸ™ πŸ‘

  13. Thanks, JR! Didn't know about the 12volt heated blanket or using butane in sub-freezing Temps. VERY good info!

  14. Here's a cheap lifesaver that many have never thought of as an quick, easy answer to keep you from freezing during a winter grid down situation. Every family member needs an old fashioned hot water bottle. ( this is not a drinking bottle)They can be bought at a Walgreen's, Walmart, or Amazon for under $15.00. The 1 quart of hot water needed to fill the bottle can be reheated and used many times and uses very little energy to heat the water. You can put the bottle right next to your skin, on your feet or in a cold bed before climbing in for the night. Your core temp quickly rises to a very comfortable level and you can even share it with another person once your core temp rises to a comfortable level. My guess is that many people under 65 years old have never seen or used this wonderful old school way to keep warm.

  15. You can also store cough syrup herbs! Thyme and oregano are my standards…but there are others. You can use whole leaf or ground. Simply brew a strong tea. Strain the herbs. Add honey. Simmer to thicken. You can add raw onion or garlic to the mixture before you simmer it for an extra kick. Take a teaspoon or so at a time. It'll knock out almost whatever ails ya.
