Blackpool Central & Town Development Plan | A while back I gave an update on the new multi million pound attraction called Chariots of the Gods and our new tram terminus outside Blackpool North Railway station. And many of you have been asking me to provide the very latest Blackpool development and what it means for you.

Firstly just off the Golden Mile big changes have been underway to build a new world-class leisure development on the old Blackpool Central Railway Station site – but it has a name change. It will now be known as Blackpool Central.

In this video I explain what Blackpool’s development is with brand new drone footage of the work.

So along with our treasured current attractions, the tower and piers, Blackpool Pleasure Beach, parks, world famous illuminations and our beloved heritage trams All this investment is estimated to attract an extra 600,000 visitors a year with a combined annual spend of £75m creating supporting 1,000 new jobs.

Like many seaside towns across the land Blackpool also suffered by downturns, under development, and a virus, but someone obviously believes in it’s people and potential as in the true nature of the towns spirit progress is back in town!

  1. Excellent- so if they can just clear our the stag and hen do's it will improve the town 99.8% – that's what spoiled Blackpool. The investment is better late than never.

  2. Blackpool is a brilliant place to visit with its heritage and history. And I still would like to go there just to ride on the Blackpool Trams. 😊

  3. Thanks for the Video Gordon! being from Manchester myself originally (Ashton under Lyne to be exact family still lives there but I moved to Bristol 18 yrs ago) I spent many a holiday and day trips from being a child to my 30s in the 70s, 80s, and 90s sadly only been back to Blackpool once since I moved away BUT it still holds a special place in my heart so many great memories over the years be it through the good and bad times Blackpool has gone through! I Knew about the Blackpool central development BUT did not know what it consisted of apart from it being an entertainment / eating out / shops venue so this VID has answered some of my questions of WHAT is actually gonna be there! also know about the tram thing at the train station ect through other YT blogs and keep my eye on what's going on via YT channels like a walk on the wild side etc …Has a planned date of completion been announced for central at all (obv not withstanding delays) would love to visit when its done! as I said a few yrs since iv been so the center has changed so much! and looking forward to a new shiny Blackpool for the future and beyond!

  4. i hope that when its built in 5 years it wont look dated and have paint peeling off and be overrun by stag and hen do's with drunken scrotes wandering about looking to fight anyone while there kids run rampant about the place .

  5. My dad used to take me to cartoon shows at the King Edward when I was a kid in the '60s. Makes me smile every time I pass it remembering how he used to laugh so much at Tom & Jerry etc., (think he enjoyed it even more than me!) Such happy days. So glad they are going to spend some money on the old place.

  6. Great update – not to sure about the wisdom of putting the DWP building in the centre of Blackpool where are all those workers gonna park?
The circus museum sounds fab though, my son is a unicycle rider will have to take him there!

  7. Won't make any difference how much money is pumped into it or how nice it looks, simple fact is won't last and never will until u get rid of the hobos smack heads on the corners, people in doorways getting pissed on cider and ungrateful bloody migrants that should be chased out

  8. Great video. I love blackpool I grew up on Withnell Rd near the pleasure Beach in the 70s, loved it and still do, I wonder what my old mates are upto..

  9. *Note – The Blackpool Central Plans were massively downgraded in 2021 in comparison to the plans from 2018. Yet the price somehow remains the same…

  10. What about all the homeless British there living in cold, dangerous street and the comfy, well fed and clothed boat people?

  11. Itll be great. The junkies will be able to hassle people there instead of outside Ma Kellys amd Sainsbury's

  12. This is brilliant! A fellow "sandgrownun", I believe it shows what can be achieved in our wonderful town when hearts and minds come together to really "Progress". Your footage shows alot of what I knew but hadn't actually realised is going on in the here and now.
I have recently retired from bus management and have worked at Blackpool Transport in the past. What we have today with the updated Flexity 2 trams, as well as the heritage trams along with Blackpool Transport's award winning PALLADIUM bus network (Bus Operator of the Year in 2022!) is a far cry from the past and is about to become superb as the very modern fleet of buses is replaced with zero emission buses over the next couple of years.
Just watching this Youtube presentation, I am already hooked on your channel and have just subscribed. Keep up the good work Gordon!

  13. Hope they do the back streets up too some of those B&Bs give a sense you may be murdered if you stay there. Like the idea of the multi media centre and restaurants too. A good quality clean up is needed for this seaside town. Great video thank you.

  14. Blackpool should've been like Las Vegas… but sadly it's shabby and downmarket. I fear it's going nowhere.

  15. I’ll tell you what Blackpool doesn’t have, nature, there’s not a single tree on the prom or in town centre, it’s depressing, I used to live in Yorkshire, there was 5 times better

  16. One thing I don't understand and it's not just exclusive to Blackpool (although they seem to spend vast amounts of money in various projects) is how much money the local councils of seaside resorts get to spend. Immense capital investment in Blackpool the last decade or so.

  17. just found your channel, and what a change to hear of optimism, of building wonderful new projects, instead of the constant doom and gloom. Also subscribed so I will be watching……
