The only problem is that the binder clips rust and will steak your roof and if you fascia is white it color it will stain it as well.
What I want to know is how you filmed this– was there someone else on the roof with you or did you set up the camera yourself? Amazing effect. But this is only one possible design. You could do all sorts of things. Like a scallop design, diamonds or a plaid– you could really go crazy with it. Next year. ๐
Beautiful!!!๐๐ Love the look!!!
Your are insane!!! Amazing and looks fantastic!!
Looks amazing. But I can't help to wonder why not use net lights? Seems like a couple of 20" X 6.5" net lights would be a lot easier. Also, how are you powering all the lights? You gotta be using multiple cords and outlets, right?
Beautiful ๐คฉ thank you for sharing have a wonderful evening ๐๐ค๐คฉ
For those who don't like the look of led, or prefer the warmth and glow of incandescent, check out Tru Tone. They're a fairly young company and I just found them this year. They are the only led I've seen capable of replicating the look and color of incandescent.
They only make c7, c9 and s14 bulbs, so if you're more into the classic roof line and eaves decorating, they could work for you. They've said that they hope to bring more products to market, so mini lights as in this application could eventually be available.
They aren't cheap though; $1.40/bulb for c7 ($1.60 for c9) before shipping. But for me, having grown up with c7 on the tree, it was becoming harder each year to find replacement bulbs. I wasn't going to give up easily, so I'm hoping the tru tones will last me a long time.
This is awesome and so simple.
With all your various tutorials that youโve done, Iโm actually surprised you didnโt use commercial light strings.
Wow Issac , just amazing.
How many binder clips did you use . What a great idea …
Iโm jealous of your neighbors! Lol You have the best Christmas decorations!!
#swoon
This is the best idea! I never would have thought of that. Handsome and smart!
#swoon
120 boxes at $10 a box equals $1200. Better save up for those after Christmas sales. LOL. This guy never does the math! LOL. The binder clips, however, are a great idea.
How do you get it to not blow a fuse. I gota run 5 sets to plug near shed the other 5 connects to pool area, I gota split them so they don't blow sets of lights
Not worth it
If only Clarke W. Griswald had watched your video first! ๐ Great video, you make it look super simple. Wish I didn't have such a fear of heights!
I use the same thing On my roof. Binder clips are a life saver for any decorations. I use them for my Halloween decorations too. Looks awesome. Itโs a Griswold effect
Your power meter must sound like a helicopters rotors! ๐
Please don't fall off that roof! We won't be able to enjoy any of your incredible creations if you are a Humpty Dumpty! ๐ค๐ฅฐ
You are so talented! Im very much enjoying your videos and it's inspiring me to start decorating next year. The projects seem pretty easy for a beginner crafter such as myself. Your Halloween decorations looked phenomenal I am so impressed.
Beautifully done , neat and easy idea too on attaching them and works up fast , Amazing decorating always ~
It's pretty but I think you're crazy. lol. Merry Christmas.
They look great!
Another awesome tutorial! Will be looking for discounted lights after christmas for next year.
Is that a blowup of Santa in the chimney or one of your custom builds?
Have always liked that look, but here in Montana my roof is almost always snow covered, so would kind of defeat it I think.
i would put lights on roof
Neva thought puttin Xmas lights on da roof could be easy. Thnx 4 da tip.
Looks awesome:)tfs:)
Hi Isaac
Why not use the plastic light holder that can attach to the shingles and girder? They are easy and when put on, they hold on for good ๐
I do this every year too and what you wanna make sure off, is that the strand is tight – and doesnโt have slack on the strand. This can actually cause them to disconnect if the wind catches on ๐ and going up again and reconnecting- thatโs a bummer.
Just small advices I pass on after doing my house like this for 10th time this year.
As always. Simple and understated. ๐
Looks gorgeous
Cool video. Just subbed and looking forward to watching other of your vids. At 5:32, I see flood lights on the roof pointing towards the house. Howโd you โclipโ those on? Or did you use a different method?
Never even though about the black paper clips! Super idea! Iโm going to try this next year (so I can get the lights on clearance!, lol!)
Wow factor is right-that's so beautiful. Your neighbors are lucky. I admire your dedication and persistence. The best I can manage is lights along my privacy fence. Binder clips are perfect for that, too.
You've probably got a storage plan but I thought I'd share what I do just in case it may help you. I store all my long lengths of lights in 5 gal buckets. I can easily put 100+ feet in one with room to spare, and those are the bulky incandescent ones that don't like to cooperate. They wind OK around the outside, mostly. But even if they just lie where they fall they don't tangle. I thought since you're so good on the roof you could tether the bucket and perhaps keep sections (or parts of sections) together. Since I'm not terribly organized and it's cold when I'm taking them down I just store the binder clips and hangers in the same buckets. They stack nicely and it keeps everything dry and secure.
You likely have a much better idea but you've given me such good information and ideas I thought I'd see if I could help you.
I like how you say to take off the tags but yet you left all your tags in place. ๐คฃ๐คฃ๐ What else should we ignore?
Love it!!!!!๐๐ฒโ
Great idea never thought about using binder clips, thanks for always thinking out side the box.
it look amazing thanks
Me gusta tu decoraciรณn โค
its absolutely stunning!!
I have a manufactured home which is clad with vinyl siding. There is very little wood to attach anything in place. I considered a lot of options but a bunch of binder clips and a can of white spray paint worked perfectly. Never overlook the simple things.
If only I had a handy man around to do something as nice as this!!! It looks beautiful!! ๐๐ฅฐ
I wonderโฆdonโt they get rusted ? The clamps I mean.
Yeah binder clips work great. I have been using them for over 20 years with my Christmas light decorating.
Great job
Clark, is that you?
Magical !! Great video !! Thank you for sharing.
Itโs beautiful but Iโm afraid Iโd die so I wonโt try that ๐๐
If I got on my roof Now- Be next spring before I could make it down. Best wear a Santa Suit Be part of Decor! ๐๐๐
Shoot those clips prob work better than the plastic light hooks!! Thanks for Ideal!!
