hey tommy ,im 61 and raised poultry all my life .the flabby thing is a soft shell egg , it happens when chickens start laying or stop laying , nothing to worry about .your birds are in fine condition. i bet you bought them from the tractor supply . the birds you have are production birds common hatchery stock . meaning they are bred in mass with no plan except to sell . they are not the best layers and look like the breed but are undersized and wont represent the breed very well. the ameracaunas green /blue egg layers are not that good of a layer , they will go broody. this may be something you want ,just a note keep an eye on those eggs dont leave them .once a hen gets a taste of egg , and they peck at everything , there is no breaking it except for blinders or debeaking .1 egg eater will teach the whole flock.from what i saw you have duel birds meat n egg .again mass produced stock.with everything going to hell basic , hatcheries may not survive . mc murray and strombergs may be around i saw ideal and they only had a few breeds . it is winter. so maybe spring will have more .id suggest adding leghorns or another light egg laying breed instead of all duel. the lighter layers lay a lot more and will carry the production . rose comb brown leghorns are heavier in light breeds will set and are great layers white eggs but its the eggs you want .these birds you have will eat a lot and produce little maybe for 2 years than lay even less ,if you buy the real stock not production mass bred they lay longer and will be reps of the breed
forgot you can add oyster shell just get a used can wash poke holes in it fill half full wire it to the fence so it wont get kicked over , some birds wont eat it . the other is to boil used egg shells and pound them up fine and feed them back to your birds mix in feed , they need to be dry of course . this will increase the shell , no soft eggs .they need to be clean and fine you dont want them eating eggs .
Are you still putting cayenne pepper in the chicken's water? I wanted to try but I couldn't find anything online that told me how much I should use. I use a 3 and 1/2 gallon water feeder.
You can make little greenhouses for over top of your raised beds. All you need is a frame of your choosing and heavy plastic sheeting! Frame can be basic and made from things you already have- like tomato cages. It will give your plants at least a 15 degree boost under the plastic. There are always ways. If I have managed to extend a garden to the 2nd week of February here in Pennsylvania, I know you can do it even better as far down south as you are Tommy! God Bless 🥰
Thank you for sharing. Enjoy your videos very much. We have goats, sheep, angus calf, livestock guardian dogs, a lab, barn cats, but no more chickens because two neighbor dogs came over and killed all our chickens. We’ll be getting more, but will no longer let them free range. Too dangerous. Sure do miss the fresh eggs.
You've done so much w/your gardens, chickens, & rabbits! I bet your family is proud of all your efforts, + shopping, cooking, being a Mom, & YT creator & editor:) BTW- went to Food Lion yesterday, & did a big haul. Before going, I went thru the Food Lion app & clicked coupons, + there are lots of "Save $4 if you spend __" & lots like it. So, I spent $365 & saved $77, which isn't bad. There were a TON of good deals, so I got another 2mos of food, 3mos if I stretch it. I want to stress for ppl to try & get: dry milk for cooking/baking, cream of mushroom/chicken/celery to add to rice, beef stew, Chunky/Progressive soups to add to rice, yeast, bouillon, chicken/beef/vegetable stock, lots of sauces/alfredo/parmeson, spices, instant mashed potatoes, & anything you can add to things to make heartier meals. For a family of 4, many ppl say to have over 100lbs of flour & sugar, so I've got tons, every kind, + corn meal/flour, pancake mix, oatmeal, grits, & I figure biscuits will be good for nearly every meal to fill up. If ppl haven't estimated how many meals they can make, try doing so. Planninh for 1½yrs is a doable goal. Also, I'm not relying on anything frozen bc we don't want the hassle of using a generator if power goes out, so try n buy things w/meat in it – spaghetti sauce w/meat, shells & cheese w/bacon, soups, canned chicken, salmon, chicken noodle soup, etc. Having chickens means lots of eggs, too, & that's a super food, + being able to water glass them. Just some ideas! God bless us all🙏
Tommy, I want to say that the "sack" looking thing, looks like an "egg" that don't have enough calcium. Eggs are soft, until they hit the air, then it gets hard, if the hen has enough calcium in her blood. So, that egg tells me that one of your hens is not getting enough calcium. They all need a constant source of calcium to lay health eggs.
That egg shows that they need more calcium. They lay so much and if they are low on calcium, which they need to form the egg shells, they will start to deplete it from their bodies. In time that will harm the chickens.
It snowed in OK last week. The panhandle got hit hard but here in NE OK the ground was too warm to stick. It’s supposed to snow tomorrow again which is crazy because we don’t usually get much snow until February. My firewood is being delivered tomorrow then I’ll be ready. Feel better!
I want to thank all of you who helped me with what the issue could be as this is my first year with chickens and reading things is one thing and living it is different. I have oyster shells I will start back giving them some. I stopped because their feed was suppose to have it in there but obviously not enough. I appreciate y’all ❤
Miss Tommy I love your channel. Just found your page a week ago and proud I did. Please take it easy and get well, I have two sons that have lupus so I know how extremely bad shape it can make you feel. God bless dear and get well soon. 🐔🤗💖
im going to put this here . im 61 raised and showed poultry and rabbits , poultry all my life from 14 .please if you can raise a heritage breed , these re the original pure breeds you great great grandparents raised . they are hardy long lived and long producers of eggs and meat . it doesnt cost more to raise a heritage breed than a mutt .and you will be preserving a genetic strain that cant be replaced . once these are gone they wont come back . the genetic pool that these breeds were either created or formed by nature are gone .they will be extinct . the livestock conservancy is a web sight that lists all endangered breeds go there and look up poultry breeds they will give a list of heritage breeds that can go extinct . with bird flu and lack of money im scared many breeds will die out .
Love your channel. You’re the real thing just like the Appalachian homestead with Patara. Alaska prepper, southern prepper, storm of truth preparedness, autumn’s backyard garden. I stopped watching city slicker channels like 🐿️ tribe, and Ron yates😂
Walmart brought in 18 wheelers loaded with water, generators, tarps, flashlights, and more to my store. The pallets off the trucks was wrapped in dusty plastic, telling me they are storing and planning for these events. these Hurricane items stored and waiting for Tornado, and Hurricane disasters. Thank you, Wal-mart

Cold weather and a half in of snow ended the gardening season here a month ago.
The "Garden of Heaven" has come to you. Shalom🦋
I would love to have a piece of property like yours. I would have beautiful gardens also. Chickens are fantastic.

This is not Jannine's original chanal, and she will take the temp. of up coming…https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qBH7vZP3nA4
That sac is an actual egg…just not with a hard shell. This happens from time to time.

I think that sack is just an undeveloped shell. I am new to chickens this year, and have had a few of those too.
MICHELLE FIELDING…We were hit hard with the energies in 2020.They have been coming in strong ever since. At times,Michelle comes in to guide us through our process… https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0sYc0LCMbJ0&t=12s

that was a egg that didn't harden, chickens need some calcium(crushed oysters).
My grandmother always said that the plants outside the bed were sent from above. Maybe a bird found seeds and dropped when they flew over.
I have some frost cover so I may need to go get some post to hoop over them and see if I can hold on to them through winter
