  1. Night before last temperature dropped to 21 degrees F. Yesterday, I cut the roses back because the first snowfall was expected. Didn't get much snow, however it is very wet snow. Glad I cut back the long stems that could have broken off with snow. Have a blessed week.

  2. Beautiful Olga! those Lady of Shallot looked lovely in your arrangement! Were those berries bittersweet? Thank you for sharing your rose care tips. I have alot of trouble with my roses, and especially with the deer!

  3. It will be interesting to see if the buds open. I have never picked any with that tight of a bud. The bouquet is gorgeous! It would be so pretty on thanksgiving day for a center piece. I will have to use my dried roses, I guess.

Did you know roses make good dried flowers? I accidentally dried a bouquet. Ever since when I pick a bouquet I enjoy the blooms until they start to droop then I hang them upside down in a dark area. They pair beautifully with dried grasses.

  4. I wish I could smell those Lady of Shallotte roses right now! I am wondering if you have a suggestion for a gardening book that talks about how to have a balanced yard and symmetrical and asymmetrical Landscaping or gardening? Or if you could do a video on this topic? I feel like I have never got the planting in front of my house right, because it is not balanced.

  5. I had to buy my compost as I just don't have enough. I haven't put it down yet or the mulch because of the rain. I need to get that done soon though.
