(1/2) Monstera deliciosa tip: when you first buy a monstera deliciosa, it’s probably compact and nicely contained in its nursery pot. With the right conditions (bright indirect light, evenly moist soil), the vines will begin to crawl out of the pot, in search of something to climb. One of my favourite things to see is the maturation of successive leaves – the one I’m holding is the most juvenile, looking just like a heart-leaf philodendron. There are two structural tricks to getting more mature leaves. First – give vines something to climb. Ideally, they’d like to climb a tree trunk but a sturdy trellis with soft wire ties will suffice. Second – gently direct aerial roots back to the soil where they can gather water/nutrients and efficiently transport them to the upper leaves. Side note: I also love the craziness of roots and vines happening here. #houseplants #plantlove #plantlife #indoorplants #monstera #monsteradeliciosa #leaflove
