I love the idea of the bonsai: capture the magnificence and grandeur of a tree on a tabletop scale. Like many who have seen spectacular bonsai collections on display, I tried raising my own indoors without success. This weekend, Instagram’s #WHPeyetricks inspired me to “create” my own bonsai – all I had to do was find a nice looking tree and photograph it with my bonsai pot. I thought the task would be easy but, since it’s still winter, most trees would be leafless. I also needed to find one that was isolated from urban clutter. Thankfully I passed by this hydro field and spotted this lone evergreen tree.
