A new year means it’s almost time to start getting ready for our spring garden planting. Most of our garden plots are either covered with cover crops, vegetables, or a tarp.
Join us as we uncover one of our tarped plots and show you the progress of the cover crop termination. We’ll also show you some awesome new greenhouse supplies we just received and we’ll harvest our turmeric from the raised beds.

Thanks Travis, enjoyed the details on using a tarp and setting up a small garden plot. Love to see the next steps including your efforts in the setup of the heat mats and seed starts in the greenhouse. Keep the videos coming……
Yes indeed would love to seed videos on your seed starting schedule for Spring Summer and Fall!! Love your family and your channel!!
seed starting schedule would be great!
I'm wondering how you planted the turmeric in the first place, maybe that is how you should plant the next crop, seemed to work well for you. Thanks for the content
Why not kill the nesting fire ants?
I planted turmeric last year for the first time. I harvested some and left the rest in the containers to see if they would come back next year. They make beautiful lush plants but like you I wasn't sure what to do with it so I ate it raw. I really like the flavor. It was grown in small containers so I didn't get as much as you have.
Spring seed schedule would be awesome i'm also not far from you maybe 20 min away its great where in the same growing zone, also have you thought of growing ginger?
Have you seen a difference using the alfalfa pellets?
I have a flat of onions & a flat of leeks that r big enough to transplant. I live in AR & r nites r usually in the 20’s. I have noticed that the onions that where planted back in the fall & r established have had some damage to the tops. Do u think I can transplant these smaller plants s since it’s so cold at nite? How about if I cover them at nite? I don’t think they will last until March to transplant Ur opinion please😨
I had a small amount of tumeric when I harvested mine. I let it sit dry for a few weeks then I dehydrated it. Chopped it and put it in a spice jar
I love seed starting videos Travis.
The tarp worked great. What are you planning to put in that plot? BTW: I like the heavy duty trays much better. They cost more but they don't break apart so easily making cheaper in the long run.
Would loved to see a series on seed starting!
Hmm, I've yet to have a charm work, but your tarp looks like it did good.
My man done busted out that “hydrophobic” on me!😎
Thanks for the video.
Do you have a link to the colored step up pots?
Travis. Here in Texas winter has decided to move in. The worm bin I talked to you about will be spring. I will still make the video but until then, here is what I am copying.
DIY bathtub worm bin/ vermicomposting system. By plant abundance.
I turned my daughter onto you videos… new viewer for you!!!
That's some nice tumeric! I've heard you can store the rhizomes in a paper bag of sawdust/peat type stuff till spring. I'm a bit south of you so I'm leaving alot of mine in the ground to see what happens. I think it would be good grated into kraut or other ferments.
You are a lot more tolerant of fire ants than I am. I am not content for them to move along – I want them dead. Tried a product last yr labeled for fire ants in veggie garden, but the ants would not take it.
A spring starting schedule would be great!!
Nice greenhouse everything looks great 👍
Turmeric can be used as a substitute to turning rice yellow. You can use it in Mexican food, India food, and Cajun food too. You can also make a tea with it. Alot of variety. I like to dry it out a powder it. Don't forget to save some to replant next year

Defo do a seed vid Travis . Also treat and grow turmeric exactly the same as ginger . It will griw back if it dies off and get bigger , but you can also pul up and hatvest some and replant . You can replant right away .they wont grow untill it gets warm .
Where did you source the tarp
Hoss in disguise!
As always fun to watch your vids. My request is everything you know re cover crops so I know better what to buy when to sow and how and when can interchange or whIch ones best to follow the next season with
What material is your tarp / what THICKNESS is it TO BE USEFULl/ what widths does it come in /where do you purchase it and is it just taken off of a roll/ not grommeted … THANKS GA USA 👍
First day I found your site and it's really interesting… I listened to the pod where you enumerated the five uses of a tarp and you used the term "fish"
Fish 🐠.??.. what is fish??? Which this video answered… I reckon it's the fish emulsion nutrient? This is all Greek to me but I just love it… THANK YOU FOR TAKING THE TIME TO SHARE WITH US..🙋🌹GA USA CAN'T WAIT TILL SOMEBODY REPORTS ON THE TURMERIC THING… Raise your own turmeric… WHO KNEW!? 👍🤟☺️
What ki of tarp do you use?
Why do surgical scissors work better…and for what exactly..cutting veggies…removing screws…opening beers..inquiring minds want to know why
