This tool was constructed with the help of my 7th grade students. What I failed to mention is that the Ho-Mi is much easier on the wrists than a typical trowel due to the pulling motion vs. a stabbing motion. The instructions on how to build your own can be found on www.instructables.com

  5. Ho-mi is Korean traditional farming tool.
But China is making imitations. So please
be careful if you are going to buy Ho-mi

'주모' means jumo, and jumo means
Korean traditional restaurant's manager. Korea people say "jumo!"
when thier coutry win other country
or foreigners say like "Korea things are good"

  6. Homi of Korea..It is a horticultural tool that was made hundreds of years ago.Seeing that foreigners use it…That's amazing.

  9. Ho-mi is a traditional Korean farming tool that has been used for more than a thousand years. I'm surprised and happy that Ho-mi sell well abroad.

  12. Hello. We are producing a video for the 2021 event of the Republic of Korea Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs.
So we are writing this message to ask you if we can use some part of this clip (about 5 seconds) in our video. We would really appreciate it if you can allow us to use it.
Thank you so much and we are looking forward to hearing from you. 🙂

  13. As a Korean, I would say your design is very different from Ho-mi, the original Korean one is made by a blacksmith which they use, fire and hammer a thousand times to make it strong. They don't use ordinary iron but cast iron to create this versatile farming tool.

  14. If anyone likes to buy Korean Ho-mi, you should be careful, there are so many Chinese one available in Amazon and Ebay, Korean ones are not sharpened one, and it's heavier than Chinese ones, as it is made with Cast Iron.

  15. It's not ordinary Ho-mi. Ordinary Ho-mi has a much shorter hand … like 12cm.

  16. centrifugal force from a wrist empowered by a counter weight that's itself the working part. So, Long rod handle is not so good to homi.

  17. It's awesome that you made it yourself but the original is a bit more angled and the reason is as you dig a trench, the angle automatically pushes the dirt to the side. Instead of dragging the dirt to the end.
