  1. The butternut squash were not damaged, they split from too much water. That's why they're still firm and not moldy. I had that happen to a couple of mine. Also, will the olive tree be going into the Hartley at some point or has it found a permanent home in the greenhouse? Looking forward to following your tomato experiment. ~ Lisa

  2. Just looking up information on Calla lilies and whether to remove the bulb from the pot or just let the pot continue to be dry I just want to overwinter it. From all the information yes they need a down time

  3. my Calla's have been in pots & ground for years & they always come back. I'm in Zone 7, Chesterfield VA. This will be my 1st year leaving my Caladiums in ground….we shall see how that goes.

  4. Im in Redding..hot as heck, CA! NorCal..today is our last day of heat..85 today…70 tmrw!! Yahoo! Im hoping we get a Fall! I have mums im going to plant up, ornamental Kale and cabbage!! I was just waiting for cooler weather!! Our summers here begin in May and last til near the end of Oct! Way too long! 100 plus heat..blah! Lol love everything you do Laura! Caladiums are so pretty!! Russell u put a smile on my face! 😊💖🥳

  5. Laura. When you picked up your phone to look up Calla or Caladium info, did you use Google or do you have an “app” for that??? I’m constantly asking Google garden questions but I’m never sure how good the info is!

  6. Nemesia is one of my favorite flowers. I love when a light breeze picks up the fragrance and wafts it to you. Not strong, not overwhelming, but you have to go and find what it is that smells so lovely. Maybe you could try Honeynut squash to grow up your trellis arbor. The fruits aren't as large and could be cute hanging there as the season progresses.

  7. So when doing a potted planting do you not need to use biotone or a fertilizer? Do you if if it’s an outdoor planting in a pot?

  8. You have mentioned before about getting a freezer for your produce. I use one and it extends my enjoyment of my produce.

  9. Hey Laura,
Not sure what marked your squash, however they are like pumpkins and resilient to damage.
Cool thing to do with the kids: when your pumpkins get big enough to mark on, write the kids names… BENJAMIN AND SAMATHA GRACE, and the names will heal over and grow with the pumpkin! So cool! 🎃
Hey you could even do it with Russel and Cheddar's name and then do the cat stencil when carving 🐈

  10. I treasure getting to watch your videos every day especially the ones where you’re with your family. I was just thinking this morning how much you have changed since you started
doing them and what a treasure that’s gonna be for Samantha and Benjamin when they grow up because we don’t get to remember our parents at the age you are now.

    Thank you

  11. Have you ever grown pineapple sage? It’s one of my favorite plants. Ive grown it both in the ground and in a container. Right now I have two of them in an 18 gallon container. They get afternoon sun and drip irrigation. They are glorious. One if them has chartreuse colored leaves. The plants both are in bloom right now and they get small trumpet shaped red flowers. I know you are not a fan of red flowers but these are so small against these brilliant green leaves and the hummingbirds and butterflies love them. It is hot and dry where I live (zone 9) and often this sage will bloom through the winter. I’ll bet they will bloom in a greenhouse as well and they do not lose their leaves.

  12. As I was watching and listening to you speaking in the greenhouse all I could do is look at the view from your open doors and it looks like someone just painted a canvas and you hung it there , gorgeous vista from inside ❤️

  13. I planted Calla Lilies in a large house plant pot containing aCrown of Thorns and a Dracaena. I move the pot outside in spring and up come the Calla’s. Just brought it in for the winter and the Calla’s will go dormant. Been doing it for years. BTW: the Crown of Thorns blooms continuously year around. 🌺

  14. Hi Laura, quick question….do you have a fav site that you go to to get specific information on your plants? Would love to find a site that gives in depth Information on the plants I want to plant in my zone 8b. Thanks.

  15. I leave my calla in the ground, zone 8b. It dies back , I clean it up before winter , cover up with soil and comes back like a champ every spring. 🤷🏼‍♀️. I treat my dahlias the same way

  16. I hope you try making butternut squash ravioli! You can use wonton wrappers instead of rolling out pasta dough to save time. Enjoy!

  17. Calla Lillie’s and Caladiums need a 2 month dormant period or they will not bloom but Canna Lillie’s do not need a dormant period to bloom.

  18. In researching my olive tree I guess they need several weeks of low temps, but kept dry and lots of light (not soaked by rain) in order to fruit. So you may want to pop it outside in cooler temps in fall if you want fruit – I think it said cold temps, but above about 20 degrees). Otherwise, it looks super happy!!
Thanks for the calla info etc! 😊

  19. At the beginning when you are talking about the temperatures in the heated high tunnel (3:00), your view out of the door is SO PRETTY!!!! I love how the weeping willow branches look with all of the green! 💚

  20. I live in 6b zone and I dont dig up my Calla. I leave the bulbs in the ground and they come back ever year

  21. Calla lilies need a short dormancy to bloom again. No frost here in southern NH yet and not looking like it in the next 7 days. So late for us too, but I am loving the extra time to see my cosmos, zinnias and sunflowers. Going to take the Cannas and Callas in this weekend though. Always love seeing one of the kitties in the videos. Missing my 19 year old ginger boy we lost this spring, so their cute curiosity makes me smile.

  22. If you like Nemesia, check out Linaria.
They bloomed from mid spring and have now taken a couple frosts and are still in full color.
    Highly recommend.

  23. Russell is the man. He always makes his star appearances and never misses a video. He’s hilarious, love you Russ 🐈💙🌼

  24. The butternut squash look like they're signing! I see a Halloween choir for sure 😆
