This nomadic market gardener has created a life of joy & purpose, influencing an entire community of growers throughout the Tampa Bay area, all while making an income to meet his own needs. Jim has been a pivotal role model of ours since 2011, not long after we first began to grow food. We can genuinely say that he was a significant catalyst for change in our lives & we owe the foundation of our success to Jim’s influence.

Each year in late spring, Jim travels up to a little town just outside Eastport, Maine, to grow the most delicious, clean & vibrant food you can find. Then in early fall, he packs up & heads down to Florida to repeat the same plan.

Jim does not follow the rules, He creates his own evolving adaptations; a mixture of pure refined classic agriculture (the scythe), techniques passed along by elder growers, elements from books that have proven their worth & the intrinsic download from living with the land & slowing down enough to read it’s own suggestions.

He is able to make an honest living doing this very thing he loves so much. His days bring him joy, purpose, connection & peace. The insights & techniques he has collected are invaluable. He plants, harvests, preps & markets in a way that naturally flows & the whole natural farming process is just waiting to be shared with you.

We have been to visit Jim before, but had never been able to come during the best & most productive time of the year for Jim. Everything is growing, blooming, ripening & the scenery around his camp is pure magic.

  1. I know this post is 3 years old and have a low chance of anybody responding but im so curious as to how animals don't get to his veggies especially when it's not protected by any fencing or barrier?

  2. Those smaller golden potatoes at around 7:15 made my mouth water. I LOVE the smaller golden potatoes like that. Such rich flavor and quick to cook. I'm salivating over here. Lol

  3. Just tuning into these series of videos. All i can say is wow!!
The amount of knowledge attained in just one video is incredible!!!
We are definitely raising kids the wrong way when you watch what they could be learning and thriving from. This is the future of today’s youth since we can see how terrible society overall has become. The culture has become just too toxic for everyone that this is the perfect way out of that cesspool. We send our kids to school who’ll never learn this which is essential to life. The remedy is here and looks like we don’t have any choice anyway.Thank you too all in the making of these videos.

  4. I can grow carrots but within 24 hours after pulling them up, they're flimsy and soft. I just cant keep them fresh and crisp! Help!

  5. We replant our potatoe plants and they keep on growing and producing more instead of pulling and not getting more food from them replant the plant

  6. Pete, you guys are doing something truly amazing here. Thank you for sharing this with the world and I hope more people find out about you and Jim.

  7. Everytime i watch this video i ALWAYS wonder if anyone kept "picking" Jim's potatoes….
    Or anything else.
    ?????

  8. At the beginning of the 5.6k video there was a short clip of garlic hanging bulbs down to tops, what is the purpose of this act ? I have always done the opposite way, why the difference ?

  9. I found it interesting when Jim talked about crops doing better that he's been watering with salt water. It made me think about a recommendation on increasing fertility that I heard recently that really surprised me. I just finished watching a series of videos on Living Web Farms channel titled "High Bionutrient Crop Production with Dan Kittredge." He taught about various sources of essential nutrients and trace minerals, including sea salt. I wasn't sure whether to believe him or not since I learned in school about the negative affects of soil salinization and that in ancient times conquerors sometimes salted fields to prevent them from being used. So interesting to hear that there may truly be benefits from sea salt.

  10. The money isn't there if everyone is doing it but you can feel good about knowing what environment your plants grew in. To think we are all going to eat plants and be healthy is bogus. Grow plants for animals that become our food.

  11. I am Way Beyond sick and tired of my government stepping between my neighbor, who only wants to sell me some homegrown food in its purest form, and my dinner table which I provide for my family. I say this as I'm munching on probably the worst choice of microwavable sandwich from the gas station, 100% processed, consisting of less than 10% of actual real food meant to be nutritious for human consumption. That being said, i currently seek answers which brings me here to take notes and move forward in a quest for a best healthy survival.
