Here is my daughter's Garden, she has so much growing in a small backyard: https://youtu.be/Ab99PzN5M24
I grew my seedlings indoors in a dog crate to keep my cat away from the plants. I bought (2) 5000 Lumen LED shop lights at Walmart for under $20 each. I laid them on top of the crate and used boxes to elevate the seedling trays however close to the light they needed to be. My tomato and pepper starts were able to grow fairly tall before I could set them outside. The weather was still too cold and rainy. This worked real well to prepare for Spring and Summer planting.
oh I loved your garden tour..you have so much growing…am I OK feeding my zucchini plants with tomato grow…
16:34 Go Gary . . . Go Gary . . .
Hello Robbie,I just got on just looking at your garden is amazing and I seen Gary doing that happy dance 😂😂😂
Amazing garden 👌
Luv your stuff Robbie & Gary!💓☀️🌺🌲
I believe those white racks are shelves from a closet organizing system sold at big box hardware stores
So jealous, we have so many deer around here that no matter what all I do is feed them 😒
Great haul, Gary!
love this
Wish we had some of your warm weather but not all of it. We’ve had really cool spring in Oregon. I just picked peas today. My tomatoes, peppers and zucchini are really late. I love watching you. So many great ideas!
You guys are the best!! Thanks so much for all the wonderful information ❤️
Make concrete Bowls for your bird baths. or o plant or a bird bath.
You should do videos while you work that would be entertaining
Nice plants happy Independence Day enjoyed your video 🇺🇸🎇👍👍
Love the happy dance
Hello—I’m wondering how many zucchini plants you let grow in an 18 gallon tote.
Love the HAPPY DANCE! I watched that several times – Go Gary!
Your racks are wire Closet Maid shelves. You are putting them to good use
Can you grow Rhubarb?
❤️Everything looks great❤️
Do you ever ADD worm to your compost?
Like mama, like daughter 😁
Nice finds Gary
Adult Monarch caterpillars will eat cucumber, in a pinch. Pumpkin, too.
Robbie have your thought of planting clover dutch white as a ground cover. It helps the bees so much. Though if you have nothing but wood chips you would have to lime definitely to raise the pH and provide calcium. Robbie give the fresh veggies to your local food bank. Or to the school. There has to be a lot of places to get fresh veggies to senior citizens etc.
Or you need a much larger freezer chest. 🤣 I can’t stand when squash get so large. I pick and use max 6-7” while seeds are small and the skin is tender. Use your tomatoes, and zucchini with onions and peppers cooked up and use a sealer unit to put in flat freezer bags and then you have it for soups or just pull out for casserole with whatever your protein choice is like hamburger and cheese like mozzarella on top. Can skip the meat if against your principles.
If you use CalMag in your water and seaweed like KelpMax or a seaweed and fish emulsion it can really help plants standup to heat stress. Seaweed provides potassium which raises heat tolerance. I actually feed regular potassium 5-10-20 something like that meaning a little nitrogen, a little more phosphorus and even a little more potassium.
I like the hawks and I want to promote them and the owls but a couple years ago I was feeding my doves because I love to hear them kinda like hearing hens (no roosters) moving through the garden getting bugs through the day. They have the sweetest sound. But I was feeding them and then one day Imrealized there were less of them and I’d hear some hawk screams and discovered I was fattening the doves just so the hawks could feed their babies. I understand the cycle of life but I didn’t want to contribute to raising doves for the hawks. She can get plenty naturally but not have a setup – felt like I was drawing them in and the hawk could just sweep in and get them everyday.
Use leaves and goat and bunny manure and add in alfalfa hay is your best choice. I had horses for 30 years and used it but if people bed on wood shavings and feed grass hays particularly not so good grass hays — then you are adding weed and grass seeds to your garden for ever. Alfalfa hay adds so many nutrients, I like to use it as ground cover.
Compost is not feed, it’s for improving drainage and texture of heavy clay. It’s not enough nutrients. Send it off to a free or $10 soil test and you will discover by science it’s good to add to native soil, or a good potting soil like ProMix. I use the professional mix and the one suited to your area ie do you need the soil to hold on to moisture or do you get so much rain that you need better drainage. Go to the ProMix professional soil website and look through all the choices. If you can only get BX in your area then add in more perlite if the plants need higher drainage. . Perlite is not styrofoam folks — it’s rock exposed to high heat that makes it expand. I keep hearing this and how bad perlite is – it’s not bad.
How nice to have a husband to pick all this stuff up for your garden.
I've always really enjoyed watching your channel. Your voice sounds so much like my mama's voice and your sweet and creative personality is much like hers was so there is something very comforting about it too. I've tried so many things from watching you that's worked so well!! Only problem is that here in southern Oklahoma (especially this year) its been well over 100 degrees every day for weeks now with little to no rain. The sun is so intense it made my tubs shatter into pieces within a year. That's ok tho!! I'll keep trying new things! Thank you for posting your videos and for always being such a sweet person with great ideas! Much love from Oklahoma 🥰🥰🥰
all i can say is im jealous, i was looking forward to my first container growing season, our nrthn calif went cold then real hot during the day. even my black walnut tree dropped alot of it's fruit. only one two Potatoe plants are doing well the rest are being eaten by earwigs, even after baiting for that and possible other pests… my tomatoe plants are good but can't see any flowers either, i am not the only one around here, our gardens are not doing good, so ill do tomatoe plants indoors next year or later this year. walking onions as you know go like the energizer bunny. turmeric and ginger i followed your advice and soaked them and then planted, will see but not holding my breath.
Robbie, I love both of your gardens. Loving all the tips. I'm now expanding my garden to other parts of my yard, thanks to your container idea. My regular garden is almost the size of Gary's and that's a lot of work but I'm growing a lot for winter storage till next year. Started all my winter seeds actually gonna plant them today. They finally ready. Thanks to 1 of your viewers tip for my area. I will say your very very lucky you can garden all year around. I wish I can, I try and bring things in under grow lights in a room with a window door. The totes gonna make this so easy to bring in and do this. This winter. I want home grown tomatoes all winter. Nothing like home grown food. Taste so yummy 😋 thanks again so so so much.
How do you water everything?
I’m so happy watching ur garden tour 👩🌾😊♥️ it’s so uplifting, my gardening is not all happy they all getting heat and so just watching your garden is makes me do something better. I am excited to fall planting ♥️👩🌾👍👍
Love the Happy Dance!!
