We’re growing popcorn for the first time ever this year. The plants are over 7′ tall and the ears are huge! Join us to see how the kernels are looking and if we’ve received any worm damage.

I'm guessing you need a special sheller for popcorn. A few years ago, I threw nearly all of my ears away because it was so hard to get off the cob.
Pole beans do keep producing. I'm growing Rattlesnake this year and I see no end in the production… yet.
Have some of the jambalaya planted, if it takes off I will have to give that a shot looks delicious. I did the same thing to my red ripper peas cut them off at the base about three days letting them die back just could no keep up with the aphids even with spinosad and Neem oil
Looking good buddy! I love seeing gardens in all phases, so thanks for the tour! Okra fries are on my list! A shake of garlic powder and a few pepper flakes never hurt anybody!
Hey Travis, just picked a test ear of glass gem and it's super narrow with a slight (really slight) few kernels that are coloring in. I've got a ways to go but I learned from a Popcorn farmer that you can grow them side by side with sweet corn bc they germinate differently! So he grows massive popcorn for his income and throws in two rows of sweet on the perimeter. Thought that was cool bc I was worried about timing germ. Anyway I'm psyched we may have a successful gem Popcorn for the kids up here in Philly. Good luck!
Another great vid
Great tour of the garden but especially enjoyed the cooking portion of the video; gotta try the okra fries! :-)~
A new way to eat okra! Thanks, my hubby loves it (me too). We made a whole meal on just okra fries!! Keep sharing those recipes! Loved the garden tour.
Get that flame weeder cleanup on film. That’ll be awesome footage!!!!!
Thanks for the video Travis. Those Okra fries looked tasty, I think it is time to get an airfryer ! Thanks for the video, take care.
Really enjoy the cooking format added in the vids, the extra info from the kitchen is greatly appreciated 🙂
Great format on all your videos. The wife gives a little extra pazazz when she is on. Look forward to each one. Don't forget to hug a dad every now and then.
They are not around forever.
Why are you not on Row by Row.
Use to use liquid 7, but now I use Bonide 8. Very happy with how well it works! I choose the nuclear option. I like it to kill on contact, not feed and fatten them up on "organic" sprays. I put way to much work in the garden to take a chance on losing everything. 👍
Try 100 percent cold pressed neem
Wood u like some of the black peas seeds
I tried the okra fries, they are great..
I've been out of state for over a month…. my Fathers funeral and taking care of his estate…I usually always have some helpful, interesting or smart alleck comment for Travis's vids and I'm back lol. Put any kind of spice you want on those okra…even traditional salt, pepper, milk, cornmeal etc, it works great! I don't have an air fryer, but the oven works like a charm if you don't want to mess around with the frying mess, just put them in single layer, not mounded up, I usually leave em whole….course, I love okra and can eat it raw right off the plant …slime and all 🙂 The oven method has no slime when done if it bugs you, just juicy/crunchy good ole okra. Another way I found is to fry sliced rounds with no coating…just salt & pepper or whatever you want and believe it or not if you do it right = no slime either…how simple is that. Also…keep your dried popcorn in the freezer or the bugs will get it….thanks for the vid gg 🙂
I’m trying to sell my wife on growing okra next season, this video really helped! I think you might have sold us on the air fryer too!
Definitely gonna try those okra fries! Maybe with some garlic salt
