I learned something about roots in trying to do this time lapse: I purposely left these cuttings without water for a day so they would go limp, then I would submerge them again and observe their recovery. But even after 24 hours of submerging, they didn’t seem to recover. I stopped the time lapse as I was running out of memory but left them submerged. Finally, after a few days, they returned to their turgid state. My observation is this: when roots established in soil experience drought, they lose their root hairs, which are quickly regenerated upon detecting moisture (in less than 8 hours). But when a main tap root suffers from drought, it requires more time to regenerate the structures required for water transport through the stem. This is why my cuttings didn’t recover as quickly as a plant rooted in soil. #plantgeek #pothos #propagationstation #houseplantjournal #plants #gardening #leaf #botanical #greenthumb #greenery #plantlife #botany #greenfingers #houseplants #indoorplants #plantlove #plantstagram #indoorgarden #instaplants #plantsarefriends #plantlover #urbanjunglebloggers #indoorgardening
