  1. Why are conifers more widely planted there in gardens in the UK? There are so many great choices of ornamental conifers that grow to 6-10ft at 'maturity' – even in the Pacific NW US. Why not pair that iconic clump of silver birch with the frosty Serbian spruce — Picea omorika de Ruyter or Blue Sky? The key is just to select the ones that are the right scale for your space. For example, select Picea orientalis Firefly vs Skylands to brighten up the winter landscape.
