Lucky 13! Babies are home! Check out the condo they will live in!
Picked up our chicken babies this morning. We were only able to find them at Atwoods tractor supply did not have any and we went to two. Would like to have a roaster but wasn’t able to find one. Watch these babies grow with us!
Wow, nice coop! We just put a new roof on our coop and chicken yard, to get ready for the snow. Weve been having great luck with getting free lumber from the lumber mills. They put their free stuff out in front of the mill. Our coop was in bad shape when we moved here. The neighbor said the people that lived here kept losing chickens to foxes. Wasn't hard to see why. They had no roof on the coop and the wire at the bottom was loose. It's all secure now. We met the fox family. Every night they came into our yard. They have two babies. One has a hurt foot. I was feeding them hot dogs off my porch for a few months, but now we got a great Pyrenees, so they don't come around. I miss them. I did see them though. They live in the bushes 5 acres away by the pond. They must live on baby geese, as there's about 50 geese down there. There have been many generations of fox here for many years. The previous owner had them living under the porch. Then they put chicken wire around it to keep them out. One night I went outside and saw one about 50 feet away. I kept walking thinking it would run away but then it started walking towards me. So I ran in the house. Haha. I'm not that brave.
We use Durvet Vitamins & Electrolytes when our chicks first hatch. It’s a night and day difference. It comes in powder form and you use 1 teaspoon to every gallon of water. Also we learned from an old farmer that by putting 1 teaspoon of apple cider vinegar in every gallon of water you can keep intestinal bugs out of the chickens. We’ve done that and not once suffered any kind of intestinal bugs. In our current hatching we hatched out 33 out of 44 eggs in the incubator last month. All doing very well and have gotten huge in one months time! 😂
How cute! When we had chicks we put them in a water basin, we also put the chicks water up on a stone to keep the woodchips from getting into their water. Check the little guy for poopy butt, sometimes they crust up when they don't drink enough. Can't wait til we get chicks again. Congrats on getting them. We haven't seen any this time of year.
Jill, you ought to be ashamed of yourself….spreading this pandemic. Every one of your subscribers are going to get chicken fever!! lol They are so precious. Really nice condo also. How are your dogs reacting? I am wanting to get some soon as I knock out a couple of more big to-do's around here. May I ask what you paid? I have been looking at Ideal Poultry here in Texas. A friend always get his chicks from them. They have weekly specials but then there is shipping and a 'small order' fee. Thanks for sharing such a special event. Brookshire Brothers here will give you those empty cardboard bins that hold watermelons or bags of potatoes. You might could put a divider in it then keep moving the divider over until they use the whole bin. Jesus bless.
Hi from Tyler, I would love to borrow your husband for some projects. Lol your more than welcome to come too. 😂 loving how your property is coming along. So happy for y’all.
Just a tip about the plastic: when it's cold, the birds will actually need some air circulation as well as the insulation. My experience surviving winter geddon with chickens in Feb. 2021. Also roosters REALLY help with predator problems!

He wants you to meet him and make him the Lord of your Life to save you. Beautiful people, terrible judgments are coming to earth, please look for Him now in his word which is the BIBLE. Yes it is, although men have done and undone in its name. READ IT YOURSELF begin with John and Romans after praying this sentence:
“Lord Jesus, with my mouth I declare that you alone are my Lord and Savior. Become the Lord of my life, I give myself completely to you beloved Messiah, change my heart of stone for one of flesh and reveal yourself to me, please, I want to meet you and be reborn. I not only want to believe that you died on that cross for my sins and rose on the third day, but I want to prove it so that you open my spiritual eyes and let me know that you are ALIVE and that you are no longer on a lifeless cross, YOU ARE ALIVE AND YOU ARE COMING. PLEASE GIVE ME A PERSONAL ENCOUNTER WITH YOU. Amen and amen.*********************************
49 wow it was 57 this morning and it felt great. Greg did a great job on the chicken condo. Excited about yawls chickens. We travel lot's and decided not to have chickens. We have a friend that must have 100 plus and we trade veg for eggs and meat. Can't wait to the them grow. God Bless, Mike & Rochelle
I have a gorgeous Silver Pencil Wyandotte rooster that I can FedEx to you! He really is quite a good watch dog (but we have 2 🐕) and very protective of his girls! I raised him from a chick but he's as mean as they come so I carry a stick and it's a wonder he's still alive. I'm planning his demise this fall. If I were closer I'd drop him on your doorstep! I've never had a mean rooster.
They’re soooo cute!! They were like for you having a new pups, right? I guess your four-legged babies are OK with them sharing the house with them…? I’m very excited for you all and can’t wait to see the updates😊🐣
Best of luck to you and your girls! I absolutely love having chickens!!! We just ordered our new round of layers from Ideal Poultry. This is our 5th time ordering from them and we have been very pleased with their shipping and the health of their birds.

I cringe when people refer to chock
I love chickens. They make really good pets.
My coop has lights and outlets. I recommend hardware cloth over chicken wire cause raccoons can tear right through chicken wire

In our house its not spring until you have a dozen chicks to watch. We use an aluminum stock tank.
Congratulations on your chicks 🐥
You’re a chicken mama now! Many blessings. And we’ll done on that chicken coop-dominium! Lucky girls!
