Here’s a peperomia obtusifolia variegata (“baby rubber plant”) I’ve owned for 3 years. I cut it back once 2 years ago but, since then, left it growing in my office on a south-facing windowsill (partially obstructed by buildings). Some may find this growth pattern unruly but I think it has a lot of character. So, as with many house plants in the long term, you can a) prune it to hold its shape, b) propagate to re-start the plant, c) let it grow wild, or d) give it away if you’ve lost interest in it.
