As the spring season settles in over Wyoming County, the Master Gardeners are anxious to get their hands in the dirt. Culinary herbs, pollinator-friendly native shrubs and flowers, family-favorite vegetables, and ornamental peonies are just a few of what the Master Gardeners have planned for their own gardens. With a little planning and the help of a garden spade, Master Gardeners will create eye-catching spring scenes.
Selecting plants and flowers of different heights, colors, and bloom times can add interest, diversity, and enjoyment to home landscapes. The Master Gardener 2022 Spring Plant Fundraiser Catalog features a diverse selection of perennial and annual flowers, vegetables, and hanging baskets. Request a copy of the catalog today to ‘Think Spring!’ 50 percent of sales directly support Master Gardener educational outreach efforts in Wyoming County, including the Seed to Supper beginner vegetable gardening course, the annual Community Seed Exchange event, lectures, youth programs, and exhibits at Tunkhannock’s River Day and the 2022 Wyoming County Fair. Look for the Master Gardeners at River Day to learn information on the importance of native plants and how to create a pollinator-friendly garden and join Master Gardeners at the annual Wyoming County Fair for the debut of its Certified Pennsylvania Pollinator-Friendly Garden.
All Spring Plant Fundraiser orders and payments are due to the Penn State Extension office on April 29. Plants will be available for pick-up the morning of Saturday, May 7.
