A gardening-based holiday club is offering young people with SEND a chance to grow, explore, and connect with nature this summer.
Garden Explorers, a therapeutic programme run by the gardening charity Thrive, is open to 11–17-year-olds in West Berkshire who have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) or are being assessed for one.
Sessions will take place at Thrive’s Beech Hill garden in Reading, located at RG7 2AT.
A Thrive social and therapeutic horticulture practitioner said: “It’s lovely to see the children and younger people who attend Garden Explorers benefit from the sessions.
“They often leave with reduced anxiety, improved confidence, sense of inclusivity, and achievement from a task.”
Activities include growing and picking flowers, harvesting and cooking fruit and vegetables, going on nature walks and bug hunts, building bug hotels and pond dipping, plus garden games and crafts.
Sessions run from 10.30am to 2.30pm on July 28, August 11, and August 25, with a £10 booking fee per session.
