A fire broke out in a flat at Bayview Garden in Tsuen Wan early on Wednesday, forcing the evacuation of about 150 residents, with a family of three hospitalised for smoke inhalation, police said.
The fire started in a bedroom around midnight at a mid-to-low floor unit at Block 1 of the development on Castle Peak Road. Three occupants of the flat evacuated on their own, with one wrapping themselves in a white cloth to escape.
Firefighters arrived and extinguished the blaze by 12.21am. The bedroom was severely damaged.
Preliminary investigations suggest the fire was caused by a charger that was in use in the unit. No suspicious circumstances were found.
