Any advice on how to deal with these overgrown nettles and other weeds?

Usually an abundance of nettles signifies an overdose of[nitrogen](https://gardenbetty.com/too-much-nitrogen/) in the soil. Which would need to be tackled first before you get your gloves on.

It looks like a lovely patch of land, turn it into something class

Go on adverts or market place and buy the cheapest lawnmower you can get that you don’t mind wrecking just barge it through the weeds and let it chop everything on the highest blade height setting. Do multiple runs through it all and it’ll chop it down

Ladybirds love nettles if you can leave a small patch of them
