If you’re someone who loves to admire your neighbor’s luscious gardens or wonders what the inside of your town’s most fascinating homes look like, then it’s time to put some dates on your calendar.
There are six home and garden tours taking place across North Jersey in June, where you’ll have the chance to explore elaborate homes and charming gardens in our local communities.
Plus, all of these events are fundraisers for local organizations. So consider attending one, or all of them, to support your fellow North Jersey residents while also getting the rare opportunity to peak at some beautiful spaces.
A House and Garden Tour, New Vernon – June 1
Harding Land Trust is hosting A House and Garden Tour on June 1, a biennial event that invites visitors to tour several notable homes in the greater Harding Township area. The event will start with boutique shopping at the Church of Christ the King in New Vernon, followed by the tour. Visitors can also opt into a boxed lunch by Food Company Catering.
The event is a fundraiser for Harding Land Trust, a nonprofit organization that preserves farmland, woodlands and natural areas in Harding Township.
Info: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Monday, June 1. Tickets are $95 for the tour, or $125 for the tour and a boxed lunch, and can be purchased online.
Go: Addresses of the featured homes will made available to ticket holders on the day of the tour. Tickets and tour maps at the Church of Christ the King at 16 Blue Mill Road in New Vernon.
H.O.M.E. Tour of Short Hills – June 5

The Warehouse NJ is hosting its fourth annual H.O.M.E. Tour of Short Hills on June 5. It is one of two main fundraisers hosted by the organization, a non-profit that collects and redistributes furniture for people coming out of tragedy.
The H.O.M.E. — Helping Others Move Equitably — tour will feature five carefully curated homes, each with their own story to tell. VIP ticket holders will also have access to a sixth bonus home and the event’s Preview Party on June 4.
There will also be an online auction starting on June 1 that includes designer items, unique experiences and home services. Available items will be on display during the tour, but the auction is open to non-tour attendees as well.
Info: 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday, June 5. Tickets are $100 for general admission and $150 for a VIP ticket — a non-refundable donation to The Warehouse NJ — and can be purchased online.
Go: Addresses of the featured homes will be kept private until the day of the tour, and will only be made available to ticket holders. A tour map and event details will be emailed to ticket holders in the morning on June 5.
Roses to Rock Gardens Tour, Montclair – June 5 & 6
This year’s Roses to Rock Gardens Tour invites ticket holders to explore a number of private gardens in Montclair, Glen Ridge and Verona.
Hosted by the Montclair Foundation through the Van Vleck House and Gardens, the annual Roses to Rock Gardens Tour will feature a total of nine private gardens throughout Montclair, Glen Ridge and Verona — or, ten if visitors choose to include the gardens of the Van Vleck House. This year’s locations include formal rose gardens in peak bloom, thoughtfully designed rock gardens and creative backyard landscapes, among other things.
Evan Ralph, president of Back to Nature Home and Garden, will also be a guest speaker at the Van Vleck House on June 6. Visitors can attend for an additional $15 per person.
The Roses to Rock Gardens Tour, held annually since 1999 except in 2020, acts as a fundraiser to help the organization maintain the historic Van Vleck House and Gardens.
Info: 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday, June 5 and Saturday, June 6. Tickets are $60 for the general public and $50 for members of the Van Vleck House and Gardens when purchased online, or $10 more when purchased during the tour.
Go: Visitors will begin the tour at the Van Vleck House and Gardens at 21 Van Vleck St. in Montclair. A tour guide with a map and information about the featured gardens will be distributed to ticket holders upon check-in.
Forest Hill House and Garden Tour, Newark – June 6
The Forest Hill House and Garden Tour is returning to Newark on June 6, inviting the public into several historic homes and stunning gardens within Newark’s Forest Hill Historic District, next to Branch Brook Park. Visitors can walk, or take a free trolley provided by Essex County, to the event’s featured properties.
The tour is hosted by the Forest Hill Community Association, and all ticket proceeds help support its work to preserve the neighborhood’s character and to bring residents together through various initiatives.
Info: 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, June 6. Tickets are $35 per person and can be purchased online.
Go: Ticket holders will check in at the Ballantine Gates, located at the intersection of Lake Street and Ballantine Parkway. They will receive wristband and a map of the tour’s locations.
Secret Gardens Tour, Hoboken – June 7
The annual Secret Gardens Tour, hosted by the Hoboken Historical Museum, is a self-guided walking tour that gives visitors the chance to explore some of the most enchanting private gardens in Hoboken. This includes a curated selection of about 10 local spots with a variety of garden styles, thoughtfully designed courtyards and more.
The tour is a fundraiser for the Hoboken Historical Museum, a nonprofit that is dedicated to preserving and sharing the history of the Mile Square City.
Info: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, June 7. Tickets are $45 when purchased online, or $50 on the day of the event.
Go: Ticket holders can check in at one of two locations: Hoboken Historical Museum at 1301 Hudson St., or Boomerang Bites at 152 Newark St. Information about each location will be provided then, and visitors can start the self-guided tour from there.
Step into our Gardens Tour, Wyckoff – June 14
The Step into our Gardens Tour is a biennial event hosted by the Wyckoff Area Garden Club to benefit the Sally Ditton Memorial Scholarship Fund and other ongoing club projects. This year’s event features seven charming garden spaces in Wyckoff and Franklin Lakes for visitors to explore, each with their own style and story.
Info: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, June 14. Tickets are $25 per person and can be purchased through mail-in registration or Venmo, or at the Wyckoff Public Library from 9 to 11 a.m. on June 13. Tickets will also be available for purchase at the Wyckoff Public Library from 9 to 11 a.m. on June 14 for an increased price of $30.
Go: Tickets can be picked up from 9 to 11 a.m. on June 13 and June 14 at the Wyckoff Public Library. Visitors will receive information about the event’s featured gardens.
