What’s happening to my Moss? Mosses?

I'm a beginner. I picked this Moss out from a grassy field near a river. It seems to be growing higher instead of spreading. The other (carpet?) moss seem to be dying/fading away.

The terrium substrate is new and I made it myself watching YouTube tutorial.
