My toddler spotted this mini orchid at Home Depot a couple days ago that looks basically identical to mine color wise so I couldn’t say no, haha. I’ve been placing it on the window sil in her room in the mornings when I wake her up and then I put it back on her dresser when she goes to bed. This vase is apparently “self watering” it looks like the water from the plastic it’s in drains into this vase? Or am I supposed to fill up the vase so the orchid slightly sits in the water? I didn’t see instructions. I feel the orchid looks cramped. Should I take it out of this and the plastic? My orchid I’ve had for about 5 years is in a ceramic finished pot, sitting in bark with holes all over so I’m not sure if the potting is different with minis. Thanks!

I would get it out of that container and replicate how your other orchid is living. It seems like it’s working for you. I like open containers so the roots can wander. My two minis are outdoors here in Florida so I keep them differently than an indoor one.
